Apple working on Android app for new streaming service, developed entirely in-house

As was revealed this morning, Apple is planning to deeply integrate the existing Beats technologies into its existing platforms (like iTunes and iOS), and offer its own Apple-branded streaming service for $7.99 per month. But the Cupertino company also has plans to build its own Android app for the service, marking the first time Apple has built an Android application entirely in-house.

Discounted Beats Music gift cards yield 25% off subscription fees, 1 year for $75 or less

From 9to5Toys.com

If Apple’s Beats acquisition prompted you to fire up a free trial of the music service then its probably just about to run out. Luckily, Target is running a promotion on Beats Music gift cards, which you can leverage to sign up for the service at a discounted rate.

For a limited time, you can get 25% off Beats Music $50 and $25 gift cards (and REDcard holders save an additional 5%). Standard Beats Music prices recently dropped to $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. That means you can get a year of Beats for just $75 if you buy two $50 gift cards and $70 if you use a Target Red Card. This is the first general discount we’ve seen for Beats Music. Please note that these cards cannot be combined with any other subscription offers.

Listen to over 20 million songs on your iPhone, iPad, Sonos speakers, Android devices, and more. Beats Music has quickly become a favorite streaming service amongst music lovers.

Since Apple announced its planned acquisition of Beats, it has pledged its devotion to the Beats Music service. The Android app was just updated this week with several features including the ability to save offline downloads to an external SD card

The update bumps the app to version 1.1 and includes a variety of features and changes that users have been calling for since the initial release. For one, you can now use the app in landscape mode. The “Just For You” interface and recommendations have been made more “refined and fresh” with this update, as well.

Report: Google in talks to acquire music streaming service Songza for $15 million

Site default logo image

Hot on the heels of Apple buying Beats Music, the NY Post is reporting that Google is in talks to acquire the music streaming company Songza. According to the report, Google is currently offering Songza $15 million. That seems on the low side when compared to the $3 billion Apple paid for Beats, although only $500 million of that was for the smaller Beats streaming service. The NY Post also correctly reported on the Beats acquisition before it happened.

HTC asks us to ‘Save the Date’ for scheduled press event Feb. 19

HTC just sent out invitations to the press asking them to “Save the Date” for a 10 a.m. press event on Feb. 19 in New York City. It’s unknown what’s going to be announced at the event, but it could reveal the much-rumored M7 phone with the launch of Sense 5.0. The M7 is rumored to be HTC’s newest flagship with a 4.7-inch display and, of course, Beats Audio. If the M7 is announced at this press event, HTC’s presence at MWC could be a lot quieter.

HTC sends out invites for unveiling of ‘latest innovation’, teases Beats audio

Site default logo image

HTC just sent out invites for the unveiling of their “latest innovation” slated for November 3rd in NYC. Judging by the Beats by Dr. Dre logo, whatever is announced will most likely benefit from that recently acquired audio tech. Many sources are speculating we’ll get a look at the leaked HTC Rezound  (codenamed HTC Vigor). That device is rumored to have a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch 720- HD display, 4G LTE capabilities, an 8-megapixel camera, and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. We’ll have to wait until next Thursday at 5PM EST to find out for sure.
