[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lbaVMg4pQE]

HTC recently unveiled its M9 flagship and today we went hands-on with it at MWC 2015. This isn’t going to be the biggest visual change as far as next-gen devices go, but the HTC has definitely brought along some improvements when compared to its predecessor. Check out the above video to find out more about HTC’s M9 and how it differs from last year’s M8…

HTC One M9 announced in 4 colors, 20MP sapphire camera, more ā€“ available this month

Site default logo image

One of the worst-kept tech secrets in recent memory, the HTC One M9 was finally announced todayĀ on stage by CEO Peter Chou at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. None of the specs were much of a surprise though the 20 megapixel sapphire camera and new configurable DotViewĀ cover will make some headlines. Under the hood is Qualcom’s new flagship 810 processor which HTC calls the fastest mobile processor in the world.

As for the appearance, I’m not sure I’m a fan of the Dual-Tone finish tweeted below but that beats the Pink version of the M9 IMHO.

Me? I’ll skip the Sense 7 and will take a GPE if/when it comes out thank you very much.

Huge gallery and hands-on video below. We’ll have more HTC updates as they happen.

The HTC One M9 is almost surely going to be one of the biggest stars of the Mobile World Congress this year, but it has also arguably been one of the most-leaked handsets ever. As HTC’s event approaches, the leaks have seemed to become only more and more prevalent, and that trend is continuing today as a hands-on video ofĀ the device has appeared on YouTube…

HTC teases ‘bigger boom’ for upcoming HTC One M9

The teases keep rolling in as HTC, Samsung, and others compete for the spotlight this week going into the Mobile World Congress. We’ve already seen several HTC One M9 leaks from @upleaks, including the device’s purported specsĀ and another todayĀ that revealed the device’s three color variations. Now the HTC Ireland Twitter account has come out with a video that looks to be teasing the device’s speakers.

Not long ago a system dump of the device revealed the apps that will be packed with HTC’s Sense 7, making it clear that software-wise, the next HTC One isn’t going to be much of a departure from its predecessor. The below tease tells usĀ that we’re six days away from the announcement of the device, but a recent tweet from the Taiwanese company’s UK Twitter account originally revealed that the “new HTC One” will be announced March 1st.

The next HTC One is right around the corner, but more and more details continue to stream out as the device’s March 1st reveal date gets closer. Most recently, a system dump of the software shipping on the HTC One M9ā€”codenamed “Hima”ā€”leaked out, giving us an idea of what HTC’s Sense 7 software is going to look like (spoiler: not much different than Sense 6). Today, the same source of that information has come out to share the color variants of the device.

TheĀ name for HTC’sĀ upcoming “Hima” HTC One (M9) flagship is still up in the air, but a recent discovery in the Taiwanese company’s website reveals that the deviceĀ mayĀ simply be referred to as the “HTC One M9”. Regardless of what the device is called, though, more and more information about it seems to be leaking as we near its scheduled March 1st reveal. Now we’re getting a peekĀ at a system dump of the device that reveals the list of apps it will ship withā€”part of HTC’s custom version of Android, Sense 7…

HTC takes to Twitter to tease the ‘new HTC One’

We have a full-on teaser war happening right now. HTC has revved up their Twitter engines and started to post about a device they’re calling the “new HTC One,” slated for announcement on March 1st, 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. No mention of the “M9” moniker that the device is widely assumed to have (and was spotted on none other than HTC’s website), but we’ll have to wait and see what happens…

[tweet https://twitter.com/HTC_UK/status/567783134180040704 align=’center’]

The most reliable leaks we’ve seen thus far claim to show the “Hima” M9 device in two variants. Details are currently sparse in terms of specifications, but at least one of these bad boys should have a 5.5-inch display, the Snapdragon 810 SoC is widely expected to power them, and 3 GB of RAM seems to be the norm for this refresh cycle. Upleaks, which has a decent track record, spilled some “Hima” specs in December.

HTC One M9 name spotted on HTC’s website

HTC’s latest One flagship has been one of the worst kept secrets in the mobile world recently, and now the company itself has contributed to the rumor mill. Mobile blog TechTastic has noticed that there are several references to the One M9 in HTC’s own website HTML code. The references seemingly confirm the existence of the device and the name underĀ which it will be sold and marketed.

Purported HTC smartwatch details suggest it won’t run Android Wear

A new leak from Upleaks indicates that HTC’s upcoming smartwatch, which was previously rumored to be coming in early 2015, is codenamed “PETRA” and will sport a 3-day battery along with support for both Android and iOS devices.

The device will reportedly feature a custom operating system built by HTC, not Google’s wearable-focused version its own mobile OS, Android Wear. The software will allow the watchĀ to operate with both Android and iOS devices, targeting a broader market than most Android-only smartwatches.

Android Lollipop finally landing on AT&T LG G3, T-Mobile HTC One (M8) (Update: US Cellular Moto X (2014) too!)

Update: It appears that Android Lollipop is also hitting the US Cellular Moto X (2014) today as well.

According to various reports from Android users around the internet today, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is finally making its way to some of the most important 2014 flagships on some carriers. Specifically, today marks the day the update seems to be landing on the AT&T LG G3 and T-Mobile has confirmed that the update is also today hitting its HTC One (M8).

The update has been very slowly rolling out over the course of the last few months, starting off in December with Google’s own Nexus devices. Most recently, the update started rolling out to the Sprint Galaxy S5, that same device on Verizon, and Google’s own cellular models of the Nexus 7.

It looks like the update is going to clock in somewhere in the realm of 400 to 600 MB in download size, depending on which device and carrier you’re using. Be sure to let us know if you have an AT&T LG G3 or a T-Mobile HTC One (M8) and you’re seeing the update.

HTC hits Apple and Samsung with cringeworthy rap battle, Dr. Dre and Jay Z not impressed

Site default logo image

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvjDtaCkacQ]

I’m a bit speechless on this one.Ā It makes Samsung’s sustainability report rapĀ seem…still horrible. Huge tech companies, can we please not do this anymore?

It’s also probably not the smartest idea in the world to start a rap battle with the two companies affiliated with two biggest names in rap: Jay-Z (Samsung) and Dr. Dre (Apple). But we’reĀ guessing Dre won’t be releasing a response any time soon. HTC also continues the cringeworthy inĀ a full sit-down interview with the broke rapper from the 80’s that it hired for the video (below).

Lollipop update for HTC One (M8) and One (M7) delayed as HTC misses 90 day goal

The rollout of Android Lollipop to flagship devices is still happening more than 2 months after the update started rolling out OTA to Nexus devices, and now it appears that it’s going to be dragged out even longerā€”at least for HTC. The Taiwanese company set a 90 day goal for the release of Lollipop to carrier versions of the HTC One (M8) and (M7), but it doesn’t look like it’s going to meet that goal.

According to Mo Versi, the company’s Vice President of Product Management:

In the spirit of continued transparency, I wanted to share a quick update on where weā€™re at with our Android Lollipop rollout process. We’ve been working hard in the labs with Google and our carrier partners ever since the code release and are making great progress so far, but if youā€™ve been following the progress of this rollout you will know that Google has had to address several issues with this release. Weā€™ve been diligently working to fix some of them on our end and incorporating Googleā€™s fixes as quickly as possible, but despite everyoneā€™s best efforts some carrier versions of the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) will not meet our 90 day goal, which is February 1st. While we are committed to delivering within this time period, we are even more committed to ensuring these updates result in an even better experience with your device because that is what the updates are intended to do.

The update has already rolled out to theĀ Google Play, Unlocked, and Developer Editions of the One (M8). But updates for carrier versions of the device, which HTC promised in November would be getting Lollipop within 90 days, seem to have caught some snags. The company is “making great progross,” but it appears that Google has had to address “several” issues with this release.

New render leak via evleaks shows upcoming ‘Hima’ HTC One (M9) flagship in two variants

A new image, courtesy of none other than Evan Blass (@evleaks) himself, has leaked this morning showing what looks to be two variants of the upcoming “Hima” HTC One (M9) flagship. While they sport a similar physical build, the larger one includes a hardware home button while the smaller of the two does not. Interestingly, this render is a bit different than anything we’ve seen leaked thus far, straying just a bit in design from the current generation hardware…

Purported photos of upcoming ‘Hima’ HTC One ‘M9’ handset leak out

Following yesterday’s report from Bloomberg that HTC is indeed launching its next flagship smartphone in March, new photos have leaked today showing a handset that doesn’t look all too different from what the Taiwanese company currently offers. There’s not too much new information to be learned from these photos (via Nowhereelse.fr), and you should probably take them with a heaping pile of salt, but there’s always a chance that this could be a quick peek the next HTC flagship in the flesh.
