Update: AT&T has confirmed that they are the source of the update, but hasn’t said why it was pushed or what it contains.

According to several angry reports swirling around on Reddit, Twitter, and elsewhere, either AT&T or LG (or both?) seemingly just pushed a mysterious update to the LG G4 without asking permission. Some users even had their calls dropped while talking and saw their LG G4 reboot in front of their eyes, without a notification that this would happen or any dialog box asking permission…

Android Lollipop is on the way to Sprint’s LG G Flex 2

Even though Android M was announced more than a week ago at Google I/O 2015, many devices across carriers are still only now getting Android Lollipop. Now, adding to that list, Sprint’s LG G Flex 2 is about to get Google’s Material Design-filled release.

As noted on Sprint’s website, the device is getting updated directly to the latest build, version 5.1.1. Additionally, Sprint says that the LG G Flex 2 is getting factory reset protection. Keep your eyes out for the update to start rolling out starting today.

LG’s G4 gets an iFixit teardown, beats all of this year’s flagships in repairability

This year’s Android flagships have really gotten the beating from iFixit. The group gave the HTC One M9 a 2/10 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 a slightly-better 4/10, just as two examples. But the LG G4, which many believe to be the best Android handset introduced this year as of yet, seems to have an advantage in terms of repairability as well. At least partially due to the fact that it’s one of the only handsets left that has a removable back, iFixit has graced LG’s flagship with a repairability score of 8/10.

LG G Watch and G Watch R now receiving updates to Android Wear 5.1.1

Earlier today, Google revealed that Android Wear 5.1.1 would begin rolling out to more devices starting soon and now it looks like the process has begun. Users of the LG G G Watch and G Watch R are reporting that their respective wearables have started receiving over-the-air-updates to Android Wear 5.1.1. The update was originally announced back in April, but until today had only made its way to the Watch Urbane and ASUS ZenWatch.

Google says that Android Wear 5.1.1 rollout should (actually) be starting now

Google first announced Android Wear 5.1.1 back in April, and said that the update should be rolling out over the “coming weeks.” It looks like “coming weeks” has finally arrived today, as the company just took to its Product Forums to announce (again?) that the update to 5.1.1 should be rolling out “gradually in the coming days and weeks.”

In order for you to receive this update on your watch, please make sure you have the latest version of the Android Wear app on your phone, by opening the Play Store, searching for “Android Wear”, and opening the app’s Play Store page. If an [Update] button is visible, make sure to update the app.

We hope you are as excited about this update as we are.  The release will roll out gradually in the coming days and weeks. Please feel free to ask questions, share feedback, and let us know if you encounter any issues!

While many of the Android Wear OEMs at this point have already confirmed the features that are (or aren’t) coming to their devices, Google also took this opportunity to finalize the devices that would be getting much sought-after WiFi support. It looks like it’s only four devices for the moment, including the LG Watch Urbane (obviously), the Moto 360, the Sony Smartwatch 3, and the Samsung Gear Live.

LG unveils G4 Stylus and budget-focused G4c

LG this evening took the wraps off of two new variants of its G4 flagship. First is the LG G4 Stylus that features a Rubberdium Stylus, which allows for note taking and drawing on the device. The G4 Stylus features a 5.7-inch display (vs 5.5-inch on the G4) and a 13MP rear-facing camera. LG didn’t offer up specific details regarding the features of the stylus.

LG has quietly launched the successor to its ‘Escape’ handset today on AT&T, featuring mid-range specs and a price tag to match. The phone has a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720p, but what makes this handset somewhat unique is that it features a curved display like LG’s G Flex and G Flex 2 handsets…

In a pretty ambiguous press release, LG has come out this afternoon (or this morning for those in Seoul) to announce that its recently-announced G4 flagship will begin shipping this week to consumers in “key markets around the world.” The rollout will supposedly begin in Hong Kong, followed by introductions in Turkey, Russia, and Singapore…

Sprint today announced a new stylus-equipped Android phablet option for its subscribers, starting with its Boost Mobile customers and coming soon to Sprint Prepaid and Sprint contract customers. The LG G Stylo is now available to purchase for $199 without a credit check or service contract for use with Boost Mobile plans which start $30/month ($35 without auto-renew) and include unlimited talk and text and up to 10GB of data.

Report: More than 90% of smartwatch display panels are made by LG

According to market research firm DisplaySearch, LG Display—the sole company currently making displays for the Apple Watch—brought in over $186 million during the first quarter of 2015, a number more than 90% of the overall market estimated to be worth a total of $240 million (via Business Korea). Other players in the market have tiny shares in comparison, with Samsung Display in second place with a 3.1% share, followed by Japan Display at 2.1%…

A new report from German site winfuture.de suggests today that a new LG G4 variant, sporting model number LG-H525N, is in line for announcement later this year. This isn’t simply a smaller version of super-powerful LG G4, though; the site suggests that this miniature “G4” variant will be a middle-range phone with mediocre specifications.
