Deal: Spigen Hybrid/Wallet/Thin Fit Nexus 6 cases from $3.50 shipped (Reg. $6.49 and up)

spigen nexus 6 case

The Nexus 6 may not be the latest Nexus phone on the block, but it’s still widely used. Amazon was just last week selling the device new from $250 (one 32GB model is still available with delivery around January 28th), and at that price it’s one of the best Android phones for the money. If you already own a Nexus 6—or you were one of the many that picked up Amazon’s deal from last week—there’s never a better time than right now to get some protection.

Spigen via Amazon is offering some Neo Hybrid cases for the Nexus 6 from $11.99, but if you use one of the codes below, the price drops down to $4. The company is also offering some inexpensive bumper-style cases that are down to $3.50 w/ code. Free shipping is available for Prime members, or you can get free shipping by ordering through the Spigen listing that ships from CA and is not fulfilled by Amazon.

OnePlus now sells a $100 handmade leather case for the OnePlus 2

Hard Graft Wild Phone Case for OnePlus 2 - OnePlus.net 2015-09-15 10-00-29

OnePlus came out on Google+ a couple days ago to tease “something luxurious” (and no, we didn’t cover it at the time because we aren’t going to simply regurgitate all of the company’s endless marketing ploys), and now that “something” is available for purchase. Apparently, it’s a $100 leather case, handmade and built specifically to fit the OnePlus 2…

The case comes from a company by the name of Hard Graft, known for its premium accessories for a variety of smartphones. It’s “handmade in Italy,” built with “buttery soft leather,” and comes with a couple pockets for storing credit cards and cash. And while it’s currently “Out of Stock,” you’ll be able to grab one from the OnePlus store for $99 + shipping.

My first instinct is to criticize OnePlus because, well, it’s really easy to do. But this isn’t the kind of thing that OnePlus deserves criticism for. These kind of cases are more than popular in (majority) iPhone part market, and it makes sense that OnePlus would try to capture some of those kind of buyers on the Android side. The company’s website definitely looks familiar, too.

Could this Galaxy S6 Edge+ keyboard cover possibly be real? [Update: Yes]

Update: Yes, it’s real.

Evan Blass of evleaks has a pretty solid track record, and we’ve cited his leaks hundreds of times. This time, though, we can’t tell if what he has leaked is a joke or if it’s actually a real product on the way from Samsung. As you can see above, it looks like the Korean company might maybe possibly eventually release a keyboard cover for the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Knowing Samsung, this could very well be the real deal. And Evan hasn’t exactly been known to be a jokester when it comes to his leaks. He’s ended up wrong a couple of times, but I can’t remember many times that he has just posted a “leak” that was purely a practical joke. With that in mind, I have to say that this cover looks absolutely horrid — and useless.

A physical keyboard is something that many have desired since the move away from BlackBerry-esque devices, but I don’t know if this is the solution. I would much prefer that some companies — like BlackBerry, maybe? — make a smartphone that actually has a physical keyboard built-in. This hunk of plastic covering up half of your screen is surely be a nuisance and nothing more.

PSA: Skrillex Live Cases no longer available, giveaway and next collaboration incoming

image

Google announced back in May that it was introducing some new limited edition cases for a variety of popular Android devices, starting with a partnership with electronic music artist Skrillex. The cases sported unique modern designs, custom wallpapers to match, and even had a special button on the reverse side that could be programmed to launch basically any app or action on your Android phone.

If all of this sounds interesting to you, well, that’s too bad. They’ve been removed from sale on the Google Store as of today.

Notably, Google mentioned in its original post that it would be giving away the satellite—named Nanou—it used to create the Earth images used for the cases.

To capture the Earth images, Google and Skrillex launched a custom-designed balloon satellite named after Skrillex’s dog, Nanou. Once Nanou’s photographic mission is complete, a lucky fan will win the autographed satellite in an upcoming giveaway.

We’ll keep you updated and let you know when that giveaway is announced. Also coming up, we can assume that Google is introducing another round of custom cases to be sold exclusively on the Google Store. When these Skrillex cases were announced, Google said that it was just starting the Editions series of cases with Skrillex. Who knows what’s up next. “Stay tuned for the next collaboration. We can’t wait to tell you all about it,” the company said.

Some Project Fi customers seemingly receiving a Nexus 6 case, headphones, and external battery

Update: A tipster has sent an email confirming the existence of the “Welcome Kit”…

If you’re one of the lucky few who have received their invite to Project Fi, you’re probably also the kind of person that already owns a Nexus 6. If you don’t already have a Nexus 6 and you sign up for Fi though, Google makes you buy one—as it’s the only phone currently compatible with the service. According to a couple reports on Reddit, Google is giving these buyers some goodies…

Googler posts photo of purported ‘Google Workshop’ custom Nexus 6 case

Evidence of a Moto Maker-like “Google Workshop” service for designing custom Nexus 5 cases surfaced last year, but no real product or service ever came of the rumors. The speculation has now been given new life, though, thanks to a recently posted photo from a Googler on Google+, and this time the Nexus 6—Google’s latest flagship—is the subject smartphone getting a custom case…

Logitech debuts Protection+ case for Samsung Galaxy S5, available in August

Logitech today revealed its newest line of smartphone cases, including the Protection+ for the Samsung Galaxy S5. The cases are designed to absorb shocks and other potential damage to smartphones while maintaining a slim design.

The corners of the Protection+ are specially-designed to absorb shocks without breaking and dissipate the energy of the impact across the surface of the case. The case can keep your Galaxy S5 safe after drops of up to nearly six feet and goes beyond the U.S. military’s requirements for a “rugged” device.

Logitech also debuted its +trip and +drive car accessories, which allow users to mount nearly an smartphone and case (including the Protection+, of course) to an air vent (+trip) or windshield/dashboard (+drive).

The Protection+ case will retail for $34.99, while the +trip mount will cost $29.99, and the +drive mount will run for $49.99. All three products will be available for purchase in August.

Logitech protection+ Case Gives Peace of Mind
to On-the-Go Samsung and iPhone Users
Slim Case Combines Ultra-Protective Construction and Convenience in One

NEWARK, Calif. — July 16, 2014 — Logitech (SIX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI) today announced the Logitech® protection+ case, bringing extra protection and convenience to Samsung Galaxy S®5 and Apple iPhone® 5 and iPhone® 5s owners. Featuring a slim, yet ultra-protective, outer shell, flex-resistant corners and impact-absorbent channels, this case safeguards your smartphone from whatever the world throws at it.
“Our smartphones take quite a beating,” said Ariel Fischer, director of smartphone accessories at Logitech. “We designed the Logitech protection+ to give you peace of mind disguised in a great looking protective case that absorbs the daily shocks your phone experiences.”
The protection+ case features a hard polycarbonate body with impact-resistant polymers in each corner that mitigate damage from impacts by absorbing shocks and dissipating them across the surface of your case. Additionally, tucked inside its polycarbonate shell, the case has impact channels and a layer of thermoplastic rubber to further absorb vibrations. For added assurance, Logitech protection+ exceeds the U.S. Military drop-test standard (MIL-STD 810 G) for “rugged” devices, protecting your phone from drops up to 1.8 meters high.
The case also features a hidden metal plate that is compatible with all Logitech smartphone mounts, including +drive and the all-new +trip.
+trip

The +trip quickly clips to any air vent in your vehicle to keep your smartphone secure and in view. A magnet securely holds your smartphone to the +trip mount, so you can keep your audio, navigation and phone calls right where you want them. The small and stylish +trip is designed for use during daily commutes and business trips. The +trip mount includes two universal adapters, so it’s compatible with smartphones of all shapes and sizes.
+drive

The modern looking +drive mount instantly attaches to your windshield or dashboard thanks to a single twist-activated suction cup while a magnet secures your smartphone in place. The +drive comes with two universal adapters to seamlessly hold any smartphone or case vertically or horizontally.
Pricing and Availability
The Logitech protection+ case, +trip air vent mount, and +drive windshield/dashboard mount are all expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe in August 2014, for suggested retail prices of $34.99, $29.99 and $49.99 respectively. For more information, please visit http://www.logitech.com.

Review: Noreve Tradition case for Nexus 7

Photo Apr 12, 11 27 33 AM

Leather is often synonymous with quality. Samsung has even taken to crafting their devices with faux-leather stitching to try to convey a sense of worth to their products. The Noreve Tradition case for the Nexus 7 (2013) tries to convey that sense of quality and luxury to owners of Google’s 7-inch tablet that are looking for a relatively expensive accessory for their inexpensive tablet. But does the Noreve Tradition
deliver on that promise of quality and luxury?

Google releases new folio case for 2013 Nexus 7, available now for $49.99

Screen Shot 2013-12-10 at 5.14.02 PM

Google this afternoon released a new folio case for its Nexus 7 tablet. The case is a lot like Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad, as it does not cover the back of the device. Though, Google’s case does not attach like Apple’s, but rather is fit to the device and covers the sides. It does, however, turn on and off when you open or close the front cover.

The folio can hold the Nexus 7 up at two angles, one of which is better for watching video content, while the other is better for typing.

The case is not cheap by any means, coming in at $49.99. It is available in Bright Red and Black and is available to ship within 1-2 business days.

Google releases official Nexus 7 flip case in four colors, run $49.99 each

Site default logo image

Two months after the initial launch of the device, Google has just released its official flip cases for the 2013 Nexus 7. The cases are available in four colors: red, white, black, and blue. Google touts that this is the first case “designed by Google specifically for the Nexus 7” and is made to fit the “exact specifications” of your device.

The flip cases feature a built in stand with positions for typing, as well as watching a video/participating in a Hangout. Finally, on the edge of the case is a tiny Google-colored flag to remind you that the case fits perfectly.

The cases run $49.99, which is certainly steep, but they appear to be rather high quality.  Keep in mind, however, that there are plenty of cases on Amazon for under $10 that may be just as sturdy
