Leakster OnLeaks says that an LG G4 ‘Pro’ is still coming

LG G4c

The LG G4 was announced almost 6 months ago now, and it wasn’t long after that the rumors of a larger, speedier, and more-capable LG G4 “Pro” started to surface. Earlier this month, the well-connected David Ruddock came out to say that LG isn’t planning a “pro” or “premium” version of the G4 for this fall, but new information from a credible leakster suggests that such a device is still in the cards.

The next handset that we’ll see from LG is almost surely going to be the much-rumored Nexus 5X, set to be announced at Google’s September 29th event. Another handset has also been making the rounds, however, called the LG V10. This device purportedly packs a 5.7-inch screen, an auxiliary ticker display, and a Snapdragon 808 processor. We’ll see what LG announces on October 1st

Add wireless charging to almost any LG G4 without an expensive Quick Circle case for just $15 [Video]

While many flagship smartphones have wireless charging built in as standard, LG opted against it with the G4. Unless you buy the company’s expensive and — in my opinion — unattractive Quick Circle case, you don’t get wireless charging. As always with these kind of problems, there is a solution and all it costs is $15 and a little patience…

LG G4c review: A budget curved-screen Android phone with a few notable compromises [Video]

LG’s G4 is one of the best phones on the market this year. It has a phenomenal camera, great display and lasts all day on a single charge. So, when LG used the same brand name for a mini version, expectations were understandably high. Does the G4c deliver as a mid-range smartphone?

LG G4c unboxing and G4 head-to-head comparison [Video]

In many ways, the LG G4c is a mini version of the LG G4. Sadly, unlike Sony’s Compact series smartphones, it’s not a small phone with flagship specs. It’s less powerful, has a lower resolution screen and a smaller battery than the high-end G4. But all of that is reflected in the price difference. We’ve unboxed the device and filmed a brief comparison between the G4c and the LG G4…

Roundup: 5 Best cases for LG G4 [Video]

The LG G4 has been around for a couple of months now, and since launch there’s been enough time for a handful of case-makers to get their wares to market. Although there might not be as many options as there are for Galaxy S or HTC One owners, there are still a good few cases on the market which I think you should consider. Unless you have a leather-backed G4, in which case, don’t bother. All the cases in this list came with a warning that they aren’t compatible with the leather back, or will probably ruin it over time…

LG cites “extremely challenging environment” and iPhone competition as mobile division barely breaks even

Site default logo image

LG cited “an extremely challenging environment” for premium smartphones as the reason for posting a net operating profit of just 200M won ($172k) for its mobile division – a number put into stark perspective by Engadget as a profit of just 1.2 cents per phone. LG specifically singled out competition from the iPhone as a factor.

While year-on-year smartphone shipments were down 3%, it did achieve a tiny 1% increase in revenue, but said that profitability was hit by weaker demand in the premium sector in its home market of Korea. There was better news in the U.S. and Canada, however …

LG G4 promo for free microSD card, battery, and battery cradle extended through June 30

LG really wants you to try the G4, and that’s not surprising – it’s a good phone! To try and entice you to buy one, though, they’ve extended the promotion they’re running through the 30th of this month.

If you buy a G4 and receive it anytime from now through the 30th, LG will give you a 32GB microSD card, an extra 3,000mAh removable battery, and a battery cradle so you can charge both of your batteries at the same time, all for free. All you have to do is visit this page and give LG some basic information like the IMEI/MEID of your phone and where you bought it from. The retail and carrier partners working with LG on this promo include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, U.S. Cellular, Best Buy, and Amazon.

The LG G4 doesn’t look too dissimilar from its predecessor on the outside, but on the inside it’s packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor (dual-core 1.8Ghz and a quad-core 1.44), the Adreno 418 GPU, a 3,000mAh battery, and 3GB of RAM. It also has a 5.5-inch display just like the G3, but the display is now a 2560 x 1440 IPS Quantum panel that’s very rich in color, brightness, and contrast, with an overall look that’s absolutely stunning. It’s worth checking out our review (which you can find here) for the full hands-on.

AT&T LG G4 owners reporting that an OTA update was just pushed without permission

Update: AT&T has confirmed that they are the source of the update, but hasn’t said why it was pushed or what it contains.

According to several angry reports swirling around on Reddit, Twitter, and elsewhere, either AT&T or LG (or both?) seemingly just pushed a mysterious update to the LG G4 without asking permission. Some users even had their calls dropped while talking and saw their LG G4 reboot in front of their eyes, without a notification that this would happen or any dialog box asking permission…

LG’s G4 gets an iFixit teardown, beats all of this year’s flagships in repairability

This year’s Android flagships have really gotten the beating from iFixit. The group gave the HTC One M9 a 2/10 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 a slightly-better 4/10, just as two examples. But the LG G4, which many believe to be the best Android handset introduced this year as of yet, seems to have an advantage in terms of repairability as well. At least partially due to the fact that it’s one of the only handsets left that has a removable back, iFixit has graced LG’s flagship with a repairability score of 8/10.

LG G4 pre-order and launch dates for T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular (Update: now AT&T)

Site default logo image

The well-reviewed (click here for our review) and hotly anticipated LG G4 is almost here for most major carriers here in the United States, but the exact date when you can pre-order the phone along with its launch date, pricing, and customization options vary across all of them. We’ve covered the announcements on this information from each carrier as they’ve trickled in, but thought it’d be helpful to collect everything we’ve got as of now into one post.

Verizon LG G4 pre-orders go live tomorrow, shipping before June 4th

Thanks to Best Buy’s pre-order listings for the LG G4 going up early, we were already aware of the phone’s May 28th pre-order date and June 4th launch on Verizon, and earlier today the company made it official along with a previously unannounced LG tablet. A couple details have changed, however.

LG G4 available for pre-order at U.S. Cellular starting May 29th

Pre-orders of LG’s new flagship Android smartphone, the LG G4, have gone live for several major carriers in the United States, and now it’s U.S. Cellular’s turn. Through a tweet sent out on Saturday from U.S. Cellular’s official Twitter account, the carrier confirmed that pre-orders of the G4 on the regional carrier will begin May 29th in-store and online.

The G4 has shipping dates of early June for all of the big four, via information gathered from Best Buy pre-order pages and tweets. So while this tweet doesn’t provide a hard date from when the phone can be purchased outright it’s easy to assume that U.S. Cellular’s variant will also have wide availability starting around the first week of the month. And if you do pre-order a G4 from U.S. Cellular (or elsewhere), LG will throw in a couple accessories for free if you visit this official promo site within two-weeks of receiving your device.

If you’re unsure about whether or not the G4 is for you, be sure to check out our review and comparison with the Samsung Galaxy S6.
