You probably know Fitbit best for its fitness trackers like the Charge 4, Inspire 2, and more. Those affordable devices are the ones that thrust Fitbit into the spotlight, but they’ve always been pretty simple. The next Fitbit fitness tracker, though, changes that with the Fitbit Luxe.

After leaking, Fitbit officially opened up the book on its new fitness tracker on April 19, 2021. What’s new? The Fitbit Luxe delivers a few key upgrades. Over previous trackers.

New Stainless Steel Design

Perhaps the biggest change on the Luxe is the design. By far, this is the slimmest design Fitbit has used on one of its trackers. The company says it “has a chic design that complements any outfit.” It’s just 0.4 inches thick, 1.43 inches long, and 0.69 inches wide. The body is also made from stainless steel with black, gold, and silver finishes with white, black, and orchid band options. There’s also a special edition “gorjana” soft gold design.

Full-Color AMOLED

Beyond the updated design, the Fitbit Luxe also packs the first full-color display on one of the company’s fitness trackers. Fitbit also includes auto-brightness with the display, claiming it can get up to twice as bright as what’s on the Charge 4.

Stress Management & Standard Health Features

As far as the health and fitness tracking features go on Luxe, they’re pretty standard. You’ll get step tracking, heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, and more. There’s also stress management monitoring, SpO2 readings, built-in GPS, and more.

Five-Day Battery Life

Rounding out the Fitbit Luxe is battery life, which Fitbit claims hits up to five days on a single charge. That’ll vary depending on the user, though, and falls right in the middle of the company’s other trackers. Charge 4 can last seven days while Inspire 2 can last up to 10 days.

With long battery life, Luxe keeps the good vibes going for up to 5 days without having to stop for a charge.

How much does Fitbit Luxe cost?

Fitbit doesn’t have a clear pattern for releasing its new products, and that’s especially hard to guess on a brand new category for the company. The initial report claims that the Luxe is “coming soon,” so it’s definitely safe to say this will be a 2021 release. Based on the leak cycle of Versa 3, Sense, Ace 3, and others, it seems likely that the Luxe will debut sometime between April and July.

The Fitbit Inspire 2 is the most affordable tracker at $99, with the Fitbit Charge 4 stepping up to $129 and $149 for the “Special Edition.” Meanwhile, the company’s smartwatches include the $229 Fitbit Versa 3 and $299 Fitbit Sense. The Luxe undercuts expectations, costing just $149 as it bridges the gap between smartwatch and tracker.

When can I buy Fitbit Luxe?

Pre-orders for the Luxe are already open, but the company hasn’t released any information on an actual release date. Fitbit did specifically mention that accessories for the new tracker would be available starting in May, so it stands to reason the tracker itself will launch in the same window.

Fitbit Luxe will likely be available from Fitbit.com, the Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy, and other major retailers when its release date rolls around.
