In a recent report, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that Samsung has experienced a better-than-expected market response to its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices. According to the report, Samsung is expected to raise its 2015 shipment guidance by 50 percent from 35-40 million units to 50-55 million units. Kuo says that the increase in expected shipments is mainly due to a strong showing by the Galaxy S6 Edge.

It’s definitely been an exciting time in tech these past few months, but on April 10, 2015 Samsung unleashed its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to the world and quickly became a favorite among Android users. The Galaxy S6 takes a radically different approach when compared to its predecessor the Galaxy S5, but this is definitely not a bad thing.

Today we’re going to discuss what makes Samsung’s latest flagship so amazing as well as go over a couple of shortcomings. I’ve been using the Galaxy S6 for a couple of weeks now and this is my review…

Epic Samsung Galaxy S6 cinematic camera test (Video)

Whether you’re shooting video or taking photos, there’s no denying that camera quality is one of the main factors at play when choosing your next smartphone. This year Samsung has really stepped up things in the camera department with an improved 16-megapixel sensor (UHD video recording) and an impressive f1.8 aperture plus optical image stabilization.

The camera is miles better than what was found on the Galaxy S5 and even seems to outdo the Note 4’s camera performance. As shown in our camera comparisons, the Galaxy S6 outshines the best of the best and that’s especially true for its video recording capabilities…

iFixit has been hard at work tearing down the latest round of Android flagships, and following last week’s pull-apart of the HTC One M9, we now have a look at the inside of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. Smartphones in general have been breaking records for difficulty in repairability, but it seems that this year’s phones in particular are especially a pain, and the S6 edge is absolutely no exception. In fact, the S6 edge is taking a two-point hit in repairability compared to the S5…

Samsung uploads its own bend test, Galaxy S6 unsurprisingly fares well (Video)

Following a bend test video released last week showing the Galaxy S6 as actually more fragile than the iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung has today released its own video that is definitely closer to being marketing material. While the other video pushed the iPhone 6 Plus, the HTC One M9, and the Galaxy S6 edge to the absolute limit, this video from Samsung tops the pressure off at 80 pounds to show off the phone’s durability…

It seems as if each carrier is using a different tactic to get you to go with their service (what’s new?), and Sprint’s method will be to offer a lease of the Samsung Galaxy S6 for completely free for those willing to sign up for the Sprint Unlimited Plus plan.

HTC One M9 review roundup: too similar to its predecessor to stand out against strong competition

Site default logo image

HTC revealed its 2015 smartphone flagship, the One M9, at Mobile World Congress earlier this month. The device was met with a seemingly ‘meh’ reaction at the time, with HTC fans complaining that the device was too similar to its predecessor and worrying about the use of the over-heating Snapdragon 810. This evening, reviews for the HTC One M9 have officially started popping up around the web and they give us a much more in-depth look at what the company has to offer as we head into 2015…

An early review of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge has arrived (Video)

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge isn’t due to release for a few more weeks, but it looks like one of the first reviews is already here. The video uploaded by BeginnersTech on YouTube explains the standout “Edge” features of the device, provides a closer look at the hardware/software, and offers some opinions on the new dual-curved device.

We initially went hands-on with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge at MWC 2015, and while the launch is right around the corner it appears that Ryan from BeginnersTech managed to get his hands on the device early. If you’re curious as to how this device compares to the Galaxy S6, check out our hands-on/comparison video, but you can find the early review video below…

PSA: Samsung’s Galaxy S6 has been rooted by Chainfire

Chainfire has announced this afternoon that the first two models of the Samsung Galaxy S6 have been added to the CF-Auto-Root repository. Specifically, you’ll find that CF-Auto-Root for both the SM-G920T and SM-G925T are now available, otherwise known as the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. CF-Auto-Roots for other devices in the S6 family are surely imminent…

As per Chainfire’s Google+ post:

Either way, the first CF-Auto-Root’s for the S6 family are up: SM-G920T and SM-G925T – the T-Mobile US S6 and S6 Edge.

Only very minor modifications were necessary [to the existing CFAR script]. The S6 CFAR has been tested on a real device, and root was achieved. Further information? I have none, I wasn’t there in person.

All completely expected, but perhaps nice to know regardless.

Before actually rooting though, consider that KNOX will likely be tripped, and there’s a good chance untripped KNOX will be required for phone based payments.

If you want to download the CF-Auto-Root, be sure to head over to the repository: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/. It’s probably not going to be useful for many yet, because the Galaxy S6 hasn’t even shipped for most. And in the case that you don’t have any need for a root at all, you’re probably in the majority.
