Honor 6X

See All Stories

We’ve been a bit critical of the Honor 6X as of yet, since the phone ships with somewhat outdated software and Honor’s track record with updates isn’t the best. But even considering that, it’s hard not to give Honor credit for making a phone that’s simply a great value for the money when you consider its specifications. The phone has Android Marshmallow (soon-ish to be Nougat), a 12MP main camera, 32GB of storage space, 3GB of RAM, and a FHD 1920 x 1080 display.

Full specs:

  • GSM / 4G LTE Capable
  • North American Variant
  • 12MP + 2MP Rear Cameras / 8MP Front
  • 2.1 GHz + 1.7 GHz Quad-Core CPUs
  • 32GB Storage Capacity + 3GB of RAM
  • 5.5″ IPS LCD Touchscreen Display
  • FHD 1920 x 1080 Resolution
  • Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)
  • microSDXC Memory Card Slot
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Android Nougat and EMUI 5.0 rolling out to all Honor 6X owners starting today

Honor debuted its mid-range 6X back at CES 2017, and while it’s a pretty good smartphone overall, it shipped with one mind-boggling issue — it came out of the box with Marshmallow and Huawei’s terrible EMUI 4. The company said that it would be updated “soon,” and today, it’s finally living up to that promise, albeit a bit late.

How to enable the app drawer on the Honor 6X with EMUI 5.0

Despite its flaws, the Honor 6X is a surprisingly solid mid-range device. Its biggest flaw, though, is the software layer. Out of the box, the Honor 6X runs on top of EMUI 4.1, which is an undeniably poor experience, especially in the western world. Thankfully, that’s changing, and it solves a lot of problems with the phone. So, here’s how to enable the app drawer on the Honor 6X with EMUI 5.0

The Honor 6X was one of a few phones announced back at CES, but first impressions weren’t all that great. The main sore spot with the device was the software. With stronger options available from the company, it was tough to recommend the 6X with the software it originally shipped with. However, that’s soon changing, as Honor is preparing a major update for the phone.

Huawei says Android Nougat w/ EMUI 5.0 will hit Honor 6X in March

When the Honor 6X was unveiled at CES, we were disappointed to see that it would be shipping with a much older version of the company’s Android skin — EMUI 4.1. Although the 6X is a budget handset, it was unfortunate to hear that a phone launched in 2017 would reach customers running Marshmallow. Today, Honor has confirmed that it will begin rolling out the EMUI 5.0/Nougat update to the Honor 6X in March…

Honor promises Android Nougat for the Honor 6X within the next couple of months

At CES 2017 Honor announced the 6X which is the company’s budget device that features mid-tier specs and a $249 price tag. Unfortunately, though, the public’s first reaction to the phone was rather negative mainly because of several aspects of the handset that are a bit outdated. The biggest of which is the fact that Honor is shipping the 6X to customers still running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Thankfully, Honor does promise to update the phone to Nougat (EMUI 5.0) sometime in the second quarter…

Last year Honor helped change the game in terms of hardware on budget devices with the Honor 5X, but it wasn’t a perfect device. It lacked a bit in terms of specifications, and the pre-loaded software didn’t help matters. Now, Honor is bringing the successor to that device, the Honor 6X, to the United States.
