Huawei Watch

See All Stories

The idea of the round smartwatch isn’t exactly new as we’ve seen both the famed Moto 360 come from Motorola and the LG G Watch R (as well as the more recent LG Watch Urbane) come from LG. This watch is probably the closest that Android Wear devices have come to looking like traditional watches, though, packing attractive traditional (and interchangeable) strap options, a stainless steel case, and a sapphire crystal lens.

As for specs, the Huawei Watch packs a 1.4-inch screen in a 42mm body with a resolution of 400 x 400 at 286 pixels per inch. The device packs 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of on-board storage, as well as a slew of sensors including a gyroscope + accelerometer, PPG (photoplethysmogram), and a barometer. There’s a built-in mic (for Google Now, of course), a 300 mAh battery, and the device comes in black, silver or gold. Lastly, Huawei touts that they’ve built their own apps on top of Android Wear, including one for fitness tracking.

Update: The discounted prices are also now available at Amazon.

Black Friday is just a few days away, and tech companies are now tripping over each other to make sure they get products in to people’s hands when the made shopping rush begins later this week. Several retailers have kicked off their Black Friday deals early, including the likes of Amazon.

Now, Huawei has revealed its planned discounts for Black Friday, and it looks pretty good if you’re in the market for an Android Wear watch or an affordable smartphone. Here are the products discounted, and their prices:

  • Huawei Watch – Stainless w/black leather strap – $299 (regular $349)
  • Huawei Watch – Stainless w/stainless mesh band – $319 (regular $399)
  • Huawei Watch – Stainless w/stainless metal link band – $319 (regular $399)
  • Huawei Watch – Black Stainless w/black stainless metal link band – $349 (regular $449)
  • Huawei P8 Lite – $199 (regular $249)

The deals go live on Black Friday, November 27th and are only live for 24 hours at GetHuawei.com, Huawei’s official US online store. You should also keep an eye on Huawei’s products on Amazon, as we’re expecting prices to drop there too.

PSA: The ‘rose gold’ stainless steel Huawei Watch is now available for $700

Huawei Watch is the star of the Android Wear show right now, but availability of higher-end gold models has been almost non-existent up to this point. Now, as per Huawei’s official blog, it looks like the rose gold variant (which, to us, looks like regular gold) is now available for purchase.

This is the “Rose Gold Stainless Steel with Brown Leather Strap” model specifically, and it’s currently in stock over at the GetHuawei website for $700. The watch has a 22K gold plated case, a “coin-edge top ring” and an alligator pressed strap. It looks nice, if you ask us.

Like the other models, this watch has a 1.4-inch AMOLED displaycovered by sapphire crystal. The Huawei Watch is powered by a 300 mAh battery, a 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor, and packs 512 MB of RAM along with 4 GB of flash storage.

Nexus 6P buyers get $50 discount on Huawei Watch

Huawei has taken a leaf from Apple’s book with its latest promotion, offering discount on its wearable product when customers order a smartphone. Buyers who order the Nexus 6P direct from Huawei can get $50 off the Huawei Watch when they buy both devices at the same time. That means you’ll be able to get one of this year’s best Android Wear smartwatches for as little as $299.

This deal, of course, is more than likely being launched to counter Apple’s very similar promotion in which customers purchasing an iPhone and an Apple Watch at the same time receive $50 discount in select stores. Overall though, there’s still a huge price difference between buying the new Nexus and buying the new iPhone. Nexus 6P models start at $499, where the iPhone 6s begins at $649. Huawei Watch begins at the same price as the Apple Watch Sport, and is $200+ cheaper than the stainless Apple Watch models.

If you want to take advantage of the deal, head on over to GetHuawei.com and add the Nexus 6P and Huawei Watch to your basket. The $50 discount will be applied automatically. All in, the cheapest combination will set you back about $800, that’s only $50 more than the price of the cheapest 16GB iPhone 6s Plus on its own. That’s really not bad when you’re getting two of the best Android/Android Wear products available right now.

Huawei Watch gets extended warranty, goes on sale in German Google Store

I already love the Huawei Watch (and so does Dom), and now I think I love it even more. Today, the Chinese OEM has announced that new buyers of company’s Android Wear smartwatch are getting an extended manufacturer’s warranty. Originally just 12 months, the Huawei Watch is now eligible for an additional 12 months of coverage if you buy direct from Huawei…

Huawei Watch charging cradle now available on the Google Store

You can now purchase a replacement charging cradle for the Huawei Watch on the Google Store for $39.99. The accessory is listed as stock and will leave the warehouse within 1-2 business days. Shipping for the product is free, as well.

The charging cradle is the first accessory for the Huawei Watch to become available via the Google Store. The watch itself went up for pre-order on the Google Store at the beginning of last month and began shipping not too far after.

The Huawei Watch features a 1.4-inch screen with a 400 x 400 resolution, coming out to 286 pixels per inch. It sports 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of on-board storage, a gyroscope, barometer, and accelerometer, all packed inside a 42mm case and powered by a 300mAh battery.

Huawei Watch owners can purchase the standalone charging cradle on the Google Store now. You can read our review of the watch itself here, in which we heavily praised the design of the device.

These 5 features set the Huawei Watch apart from the competition [Video]

The Huawei Watch is definitely an Android Wear watch, but it does have a few features that set it apart from its competitors. Even though it may be priced a little on the steep side compared to other offerings in the space, Huawei has truly seized this opportunity to further prove that it is serious about building hardware for Android platforms. The Huawei Watch is the watch to beat right now, and there are at least 5 reasons that’s the case…

Review: Huawei’s Mate S is well-built w/ a very fast fingerprint scanner, but falls short in some areas [Video]

I’m fairly new to Huawei’s lineup of smartphones, but since I was such a big fan of Huawei Watch, I had some high hopes and expectations for this new device. As with Huawei Watch, the unboxing experience is excellent. Huawei knows how to do packaging. It’s clean-cut and presented well. Though packaging is only a small part of the battle…

Huawei Watch is beautiful. I know that’s a rather odd way to start out this review, but this is hands-down one of the best looking smartwatches on the market. I suppose that opinion is somewhat subjective depending on your taste, but every little detail about Huawei Watch’s look and feel is proof that there’s light at the end of the tunnel for beautiful smartwatch design…

Huawei Watch is now available for shipping within 1-2 days from Google Store, Amazon

If you pre-ordered the Huawei Watch, you might be interested in knowing that your order has most likely shipped. If you haven’t ordered a Huawei Watch yet, though, and you plan to, I have especially good news: The device is now available for shipping within 1-2 business days from the Google Store, Amazon, and other outlets.

The Huawei Watch starts at $350, with model availability varying between outlets. The Google Store, for instance, only offers the “Silver” Huawei Watch with a Milanese-like bracelet. Amazon, however, offers three different variants, black w/ link bracelet, silver w/ leather band, and stainless w/ stainless link bracelet, at $350, $400, and $450, respectively.

The Huawei Watch packs a 1.4-inch screen in a 42mm body and a 400 x 400 resolution screen at 286 pixels per inch. It sports 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of on-board storage, a gyroscope & accelerometer, PPG (photoplethysmogram), and a barometer. There’s also a built-in mic, with all of this powered by a 300 mAh battery.

We have lots of Huawei Watch content on the way, so keep and eye out for our full review and more.

Huawei Watch finally available to pre-order, ships September 17 from $349

Huawei has finally confirmed officially where and when we can get our hands on its Android Wear smartwatch. The Huawei Watch was originally shown off at MWC in Barcelona, back in February. Now, at long last, you can pre-order it with prices ranging from $349 to $799. Huawei confirmed in a press release this morning that its devices are going on pre-order today. Customers in the US can purchase them from Amazon, Google Store and Best Buy.

Huawei Watch will come in stainless steel, black and rose gold-plated case options. The smartwatch features a 42mm metal case with standard 18mm lugs and a round face. What’s more, the physical button (much like the upcoming Moto 360) is placed at the 2 o’clock position. It’s built from 316L stainless steel and the 1.4-inch, 400×400 AMOLED display is coated in sapphire crystal.

Huawei Watch pricing revealed on Amazon – four models ranging between $350 and $800

Update: Huawei has shared the following statement regarding the Amazon listing, which is now pulled:

Earlier today, incorrect information about the upcoming launch of the Huawei Watch was published on a partner website. We have nothing to announce at this time. Stay tuned for more details next week.

Even though the device was first made public a full 6 months ago, the Huawei Watch price — which was rumored to be upwards of $1,000 — has been a mystery for quite some time. Now, thanks to a new pre-order page on Amazon’s website, we can see that the watch will be priced between $350 and $800 depending on the model you choose…

Huawei Watch faces significant delays in China due to block on Google services

We recently reported that the launch of Huawei’s first smartwatch, simply called Huawei Watch, was expected to be delayed until September or October in China and perhaps abroad as well. A new story out from the WSJ speaking with Yang Yong of Huawei, however, has the launch in China pushed back as far as early 2016. The smartwatch is still expected to launch in the US and Europe in the coming months.

Huawei Watch said to be delayed until September or October

Site default logo image

Speaking to Chinese media, He Gang, the head of Huawei’s mobile division, has said that the launch of the company’s first smartwatch, called Huawei Watch, has been delayed until at least September or October, pushing its launch to the latter half of the year. The Huawei Watch was unveiled back at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with the company having said at the time that they were planning for a launch sometime “around the middle of the year.”

The delay can largely be attributed to “incompatibility issues with Android Wear,” according to the reports. In other words, Google Play services being unavailable in China due to strains between the Mountain View company and the People’s Republic of China has meant that Huawei has to build its own smartwatch services to match those built and offered by Google.

Huawei: Rumored $1,000 cost ‘out of range’ of base model Huawei Watch price

A rumor began circulating the Android blogs a couple of days ago that the Huawei Watch is going to cost about a grand when it launches. Intentionally or not, the original source of this rumor didn’t exactly specify which model of the device would cost this much, saying only that the “Huawei Watch price is $1,000”.

While we still don’t know what the different variants of the device will cost—as Huawei hasn’t announced pricing for any of them yet—we now have confirmation from the Chinese company that the base model will most definitely not cost $1,000…

This is the Huawei Watch, an extremely elegant and attractive Android Wear entry

As was expected (thanks to an advertisement spotted in the Barcelona Airport), Huawei came out this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain to announce its first entry into the Android Wear race: the Huawei Watch.

A first impression of the device might quickly lead you to believe that this is one of the most—if not the most—attractive Android Wear devices to launch, and based on what Huawei’s shown us, this thing might just be worthy of such a judgment…
