Republic Wireless announced today that it will begin selling the 2014 Moto X on Wednesday, December 10th. As seen with other retail outlets, the “hybrid calling” service will support device customization via the Moto Maker. Republic Wireless will offer the 16GB variant of the second-generation Moto X for $399, which is about $100 under the handset’s regular off-contract price.

Android 5.0 Lollipop for Verizon’s version of the 2014 Moto X is now live. The update is rolling out as an over-the-air software push that introduces a bevy of new features to Motorola’s flagship smartphone. For starters, your Moto X will be treated a new Material Design-themed layout loaded with Lollipop’s fluid animations, along with an updated notification setup that “intelligently” ranks alerts by type and who sent them. Software version 22.21.11 also introduces the ability to prioritize and set privacy notifications for each of your handset’s applications.

Sol Republic, makers of a wide variety of speakers and headphones, announced in August 2013—alongside the announcement of the Moto X—that it would be partnering with Motorola “to redefine the music experience,” and “change the way music fans experience and share music.” 9to5Google has learned, however, this partnership may not have worked out so well. According to people familiar with the partnership, Motorola will soon be dropping its affiliation and contract with Sol Republic.

Google’s upcoming “Nexus 6” (some claim it will be called “Nexus X” because of Blade Runner) has long been rumored, and there have been many leaked specifications and details rolling out for quite some time now. But there hasn’t been much solid information about the device quite yet, leaving many who have passed on the iPhone 6 and OnePlus One hopelessly waiting to know if the wait will be worth it. For those of you who fall into this category, you’re in luck.

We can now corroborate previous rumors that its screen size nudges it out of smartphone territory, and closer to the likes of the recent push for phablet devices. If any smartphone is really a phablet, this is it—shipping with a behemoth screen that’s a massive 5.92-inches diagonally, with the device’s body being just a bit larger than that. 9to5Google has also learned that, as for the overall appearance of the device, it’s basically going to be a scaled up 2nd generation Moto X with some minor tweaks to make the larger size easier to use.

Earlier this week it was revealed that if you bend your iPhone 6 Plus, it will bend. This shocking news took the world by storm, but left some people wondering if other phones would also flex under pressure. To answer the question, YouTuber Unbox Therapy attempted to repeat his earlier experiment with iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, HTC One M8, newest Moto X, and Nokia Lumia.

After applying roughly the same force to each of these handsets, he discovered that the iPhone 6 Plus was in fact more flexible than the rest. The Moto X ended up coming out top of the pack, with next to no flexibility at all. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 was also found to be much less “bendy” than the larger model, though it did get a very small curve with enough force.

Orders for Motorola’s new flagship smartphone through the company’s Moto Maker platform are now reportedly in route to consumers. Last week, Motorola finally took the wraps off of a handful of new products. The new Moto G and Moto 360 went on sale almost immediately, but the new Moto X was teased as being available later this month. Today, however, the company has officially announced that starting Tuesday, September 16th, you will be able to pre-order the new Moto X for AT&T. The unlocked, “Pure Edition” of the device will also go up for pre-order that same day.
