A new YouTube experiment brings native video playback directly to your Twitter feed without needing to go to a web browser or the dedicated app.

After a preview in India, YouTube Shorts is rolling out in the US with a beta launch. Alongside the expanded availability, Google is making a number of updates to the short-form platform.

Move over Social Blade, as YouTube Studio has now finally added a real-time subscriber count for your channel, meaning third-party services may no longer be necessary.

Copyright is an issue that YouTube creators have had to deal with for ages, and in many cases, it can land them in hot water by mistake. Now, YouTube is rolling out the ability for creators to see if their video will have any copyright troubles at the time of upload with a new “Checks” step during upload.

The Analytics tool in YouTube Studio is adding new and returning viewer metrics to help creators better “understand different trends in your audience over time.”

Back in August, Google Discover started surfacing “Short videos” to join webpages, regular videos, and later, AMP-based Web Stories. Ahead of the beta coming to the US next month, Google is testing YouTube Shorts and other short-form content in Discover.

The YouTube Kids app is geared for young children, but there’s long been demand from parents for a supervised experience dedicated at tweens and teens. What’s essentially YouTube for older kids has just been announced and will be coming soon.

February is Black History Month, and YouTube is marking the occasion in a prominent way. The YouTube logo that appears on the mobile apps and website will be reimagined for BHM by Black artists this month.

4K media is widely available nowadays, and YouTube is absolutely full of it, thanks to 4K cameras on smartphones and mirrorless cameras, too. Now, the platform is allowing more people to see content in 4K, with YouTube for Android now streaming 4K content no matter the resolution of your display.

Google’s video site has a number of topic-based destinations like /Gaming and /Fashion. Amid a big increase in viewership, YouTube.con/Sports has been revamped to offer a “more personalized” experience.

In a bid to compete better with streaming platforms such as Twitch, YouTube has started testing a new feature with selected creators that will allow short looping “Clips.”
