Google One last month marked its one year anniversary as the company’s renamed service for Drive storage and customer support. The latest Google One promo is a rather tame $.99 movie rental from the Play Store.
The removal of the Google Drive $5 yearly subscription plan giving 20GB of cloud storage has some benefits for users already subscribed to the lowest tier of the service. Google has since told users that subscribers will now have the extended storage grandfathered to their existing accounts completely free of charge.
After rebranding its storage plans under the Google One name last year, the company has been rolling out some perks and promos as a bonus for subscribers. Now, some Google One subscribers are getting promo codes in their inbox for a free Google Home Mini.
It seems like with every passing day, another discount is available on Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. This week, Google One is offering up a “membership benefit” which cuts $125 off the price of any Pixel 3 model.
Google One might be the new all-in-one subscription package for Drive storage, online support for services and include other handy perks, but the system has so far been a US-exclusive. Now, this new system is slowly expanding beyond US borders with UK and Canadian users able to sign up to the service.

Last month, Google One officially launched with cheaper storage, family plans, premium app support, and a colorful ring around your profile avatar. Another big incentive to join is free perks like Google Play credit and hotel booking discounts. The latest is a 10% discount off any item in the Google Store.
The Google One launch was a bit rough. The service was announced at I/O, then it went up on the Play Store 10 days later, and then it became officially available to “everyone” in mid-August. But the problem with that was that it wasn’t actually available to everyone.

Back in May, Google announced that it would be revamping its cloud storage offerings and bundling it with customer support and more under a new “Google One” umbrella. Although its app was released shortly after that, the switchover hadn’t gone live, until now.
Earlier this month, the search giant announced that it would be simplifying it cloud storage plans by introducing Google One. Despite it not being launched for several more months, the Google One app is now live on the Play Store.
Google is revamping its cloud storage offerings to better reflect the rise in high-res images and 4K video, especially due to Photos, while also integrating family plans. “Google One” features simplified plans that are cheaper and also give subscribers other benefits, like deals and better customer support.
Google I/O 2018 kicks off next week, and now we’ve managed to get our hands on a new app icon for what we believe could be an entirely new version of a Google app you’ve probably never heard of: One Today. All we have is the icon for now, but a dramatic refresh of an app icon design like this one could point to a full revamp of the app itself — especially since it’s one that’s long been forgotten…
