Huawei has been in a tough spot for the past several months due to a ban from the US that restricts the company from using Google apps among other things. Now, Huawei is teasing the company’s 2020 plans with the Huawei P40 which will have a unique design, as well as an upgraded Mate X foldable as well.
Huawei’s Mate X foldable smartphone was announced just weeks after the Samsung Galaxy Fold, but the two products have had wildly different rides in the time since. Now, after months of delays, Huawei has finally launched the Mate X.
After some extended hands-on time with the Huawei Mate X, I have to admit that this is the most elegant foldable device that you might be able to buy at some point in the future — so long as you live outside of North America.

Folding phones have endured a rocky start ever since the Samsung Galaxy Fold hit a snag and had to be pulled from sale. Noticing the well-publicized problems, Huawei initially delayed the launch of its own foldable — the Mate X.
Just this week, Samsung’s first folding smartphone finally got a launch date following serious issues with its design. Now, Huawei’s folding smartphone, the Mate X, has quietly been given a design update which is shown off in some new hands-on photos.
The launch of the much anticipated foldable Huawei Mate X phone has been postponed from June until September.

Over the past week, the fallout from the US ban on American companies working with Huawei has escalated. Google — after a three-month reprieve — will not be able to work with the Chinese company on launching new devices, or updating existing ones. The latest development sees Google remove the Huawei Mate X and P30 Pro from Android.com entirely.
