The latest updates for the Moto Z3, Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are now bringing the February security patch to devices in the United States.
With the help of mods, the Motorola Moto Z3 will be one of the very first 5G connected handsets. And all-in-all it’s actually a decent phone despite the snap-on mods feeling a little half-baked at times.

I wasn’t massively impressed with the Moto Z3 Play, it wasn’t exactly a fully realized device in my opinion. That said, it had some great camera controls and a nice clean camera experience. The most recent Motorola camera updates have added a slew of new features including a brand new selfie portrait mode — which is available for all Moto devices — AR Stickers for the Moto Z3 and Moto Z3 Play alongside new image watermarking features.

The Moto Z3 Play could be considered a great phone. It has an improved design, an exceptional software experience, solid build, and the ability to increase functionality with the Moto Mod system. However, the phone becomes more of an issue when you see just what other devices are achieving at the same price point, making the Moto Z3 much harder to recommend.

Whilst we won’t actually see 5G services go live for devices until 2019, Verizon has completed the world’s first 5G data transmission on a smartphone. The device in question, the Moto Z3 with a 5G Moto Mod attached, is now officially the world’s first commercially available 5G device.
Following Android 9 Pie’s debut, only a couple of devices have picked up support including Google’s Pixel and the Essential Phone. Over the weekend, more devices were confirmed to get the update, and now Motorola is announcing its plans for Android’s latest release.

In the midst of Samsung’s expected Galaxy S9 and S9+ unveil next month and LG’s in flux flagship plans, Lenovo’s Motorola is also prepping its 2018 lineup. Leaks from Droid-Life today suggest upgrades to the mid-range Moto G, an interesting Moto X, and the flagship Moto Z.
