Motorola

Lenovo/Motorola have finally launched the new Moto Z here in the United States, but that’s not the only place we’ll see it go up for sale. After a brief period of exclusivity at Verizon Wireless, the phone will go on sale in markets around the world as a GSM unlocked device. One of those markets includes China, but there the Moto Z will be getting some major changes in the software department.
Motorola launched two distinct Moto X variants last year: the flagship Moto X Style (later known simply as “Pure Edition” in the US) and the Moto X Play, which shipped with lesser processor and RAM specs. Later, Verizon and Motorola teamed up to launch another variant at the flagship level: the shatterproof Droid Turbo 2.
With the initial launch of the Moto Z, Lenovo effectively introduced what are the next-gen equivalent of the Moto X Style (the standard Moto Z), and the Droid Turbo 2 (the Moto Z Force). That leaves us with one gap, a replacement for the Moto X Play, and a new image suggests that such a phone is launching soon — and with a headphone jack.
We’re hard at work on our full review of Lenovo’s upcoming Moto Z and and Moto Z Force (coming next week!), but for now you’re going to have to settle for some quick unboxing footage. Follow after the break for the video, in which we disassemble the packing for Lenovo’s latest flagship…

Back when Motorola was Motorola, the company had 3 major smartphone releases each year, the Moto X, the Moto G, and the smaller, cheaper Moto E. This year things have proved a bit different with the release of the Moto G4 and G4 Plus along with the new Moto Z, but today the company has released a new successor to the Moto E, the Moto E3.

I’ve long been a big fan of the Moto G since the original version, and I’ve used an iteration or two since its initial debut. The latest smartphones to bear the G-series moniker are the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus, and upon first glance, you might have trouble discerning which is which.
That’s because both smartphones look strikingly similar. In fact, the Moto G4 Plus is essentially a Moto G4 with a few notable enhancements. As such, I’ll make references to both devices throughout this post.
Starting at just $199.99 (or as low as $149.99 via Amazon Prime special offers), the Moto G4 family of smartphones are unlocked out of the box, and work with LTE on all US-carriers. Is the Lenovo-owned Motorola still on top of its game when it comes to offering great value to budget-minded customers?

After releasing the Moto G⁴ family in India last month, Motorola and Lenovo have today officially announced that the Moto G⁴ and the Moto G⁴ Plus will be coming to the United States. The budget offering is back, and you’ll be able to grab one in just a couple of weeks…

Following Rick Osterloh’s exit and eventual hire by Google in April, Motorola’s long-time head of design Jim Wicks is leaving Lenovo for Northwestern University. Wicks was at the company for over 12 years and most recently responsible for the design of the Moto X and Moto 360.

Android Wear 2.0 went official following Google I/O and as we learn everything it’s capable of, we’re also finding out who will and will not get it. Just like with previous updates, just about everyone will be getting it, but this time around Google is dropping two models, the original LG G Watch and the 1st generation Moto 360.

Along with their announcement of the Moto Z, Lenovo today announced MotoMods, a collection of special attachments to the phone which can expand the capabilities of the phone. The first three MotoMods that will hit the market include the ‘Insta-share projector’, JBL SoundBoost speaker, and the offGRID power pack from Incipio. However Lenovo is learning from the mistakes that LG made with the G5 by opening up a developer program to encourage development of more new modules.

While technically not the first Lenovo-made Moto device, the Moto Z is the most important. After dropping Motorola for just Moto and replacing long time head Rick Osterloh, Lenovo is finally fleshing out its 2014 acquisition from Google. The Moto Z lineup consists of two devices with nearly identical designs and compatibility with backplate modules that add extra functionality and styling.

Motorola Lenovo is just a few short days away from announcing their next Android flagship, the Moto Z (or Moto X 2016 as it’s also known). We’re all excited to see what will be unveiled, but through a series of leaks we know quite a lot about the new phone. We know that it’ll have a metal design, but one of the biggest downsides to that is that users won’t be able to customize the look of the phone. However thanks to a new set of leaks, it looks like we’ll be able to retain that after all, sort of.
Motorola’s phones haven’t always had the best camera sensors, but on top of that their default camera app has long been just downright horrible. With the company’s new 2016 devices, including the already announced and released Moto G4 family, they’ve finally given us a brand new camera app and it’s just hit Google Play…

Lenovo has now published its financial earnings report for the final quarter of its 2015/16 fiscal year, ending in March. Highlights for the Hong Kong-based company include full year revenue of $44.9 billion, with Q4 revenue of $9.1 billion, which is down 19% on the same quarter last year. On the whole, it was a fairly uneventful quarter, but Lenovo recognizes its bid to bring in Motorola hasn’t gone as smoothly as planned.

It was 2006, you were in high school, and everybody had a Motorola RAZR. At least, that’s how Motorola wants you to remember your life ten years ago, in its latest teaser for the upcoming Moto X (or Moto Z) announcement.
Of course, one year later the iPhone was launched and the entire mobile industry was turned on its head. But for that one brief spell, the RAZR was without doubt the most popular phone around, and it turned heads.

We are hours away from Motorola‘s event in New Delhi, where the Lenovo-owned company is expected to fully unveil its new Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones.
As it often happens, however, the closer we get to an event the more leaks tend to pour, and this time it’s no exception…
