Mirror Beta screen recording app plays nice with non-rooted devices running Android 5.0

Prolific Android developer Koushik “Koush” Dutta has released a new mirroring app that lets you broadcast your device’s screen to  your TV via compatible set-top receivers like Chromecast, Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV. You can also use the new software to record your gadget’s screen in action, which could be useful when making a how-to video.

Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM now available for Sony Xperia L

Android 5.0 Lollipop has already received multiple ports across several different devices and software enthusiasts can now throw another log on the fire. An XDA forum member has put together an AOSP port of Google’s new mobile operating system for the Sony Xperia L. While the ROM isn’t recommended as a daily driver, a lot of its functionality is said to be intact.

Google Play merchant accounts now available to developers in Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Qatar and Venezuela

Google has extended the availability of Google Play merchant account ownership to seven new territories, including Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Qatar and Venezuela. App developers in these markets can now register to accept cash payments for their software through the Play Store.

Sprint to start carrying the LG G Watch R on November 14th

The LG G Watch R is now available from AT&T and Google Play and Sprint confirmed today that it will start offering the Korean electronics manufacturer’s latest smartwatch on November 14th. The carrier will sell the Android Wear device for $300 outright or qualified customers can purchase it for no money down via Sprint’s Easy Pay program for $25 per month for one year.

New OnePlus One update addresses touchscreen and black bar bugs

CyanogenMod has rolled out a new software update for the OnePlus One today which looks to resolve a few issues that have been troubling the device for the past few months. CM 11S 44S tackles some potential security flaws and looks to resolve a longstanding touchscreen problem that affected typing or just about anything that involved using the phone’s display. There’s also a fix for the “black bar” issue that would occasionally cause lines to appear across the OnePlus One’s screen.

Google Genomics can store your genome in the cloud for $25 a year

Google’s film tech being used to create Android-friendly interactive live action shorts

Motorola and Google may have officially split up, however the search giant has retained the interactive short film brand known as Spotlight Stories that was featured on the Moto X and Moto G smartphones. This newer filmmaking technology pushes stories from the big screens of the theater to a person’s mobile device and features engaging cues that impact the way the story told and heard. For example, if a helicopter were to follow a vehicle as part of a car chase, a viewer would be able to lift their phone upward to get a closer look at the iron bird in hot pursuit.

Google signs lease for a former Nabisco factory in New York

Google recently purchased some premium real estate close to its headquarters in Mountain View, California and it looks like the outfit is trying to expanding its office setup on the East Coast. According to Vornado Realty Trust the tech company has signed a lease for an 180,000 square foot industrial space in New York at 85 10th Avenue that used to be a Nabisco factory.

Nest to offer ‘free’ smart thermostats to Electric Ireland customers (update)
