Over the past few years, LG has been in hot water pretty often when it comes to Android updates. The company announced an “Update Center” which did essentially nothing, but slowly, LG is getting better. Right now, the company deserves a bit of credit: LG has rolled out Android 10 to the past 2 years of its flagship phones.
LG still isn’t doing so good with software updates but with that said, if you’re a US-based LG V35 ThinQ owner, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Android Pie update is now rolling out.
LG has been painfully slow to updates recently, not updating a single one of its devices to Android Pie. That is, up until now. This week, LG has finally kicked off the Android Pie update for the LG V35 ThinQ.
Back in February, Google Fi dropped the Pixel 2 XL, but added the Moto G7 in March. Over the past few days, the MVNO online store has stopped selling the Android One Moto X4, and LG’s G7 and V35 ThinQ.
Project Fi significantly expanded its lineup in May with two flagship devices from LG. On the premium front, the Google MNVO was previously restricted to Pixel and Nexus, while the only other offerings have been mid-range Motorola phones. The carrier is today announcing a $300 service credit with the purchase of an LG G7 or V35.
One problem that has long faced Project Fi users is a lack of choice when it comes to devices. Slowly but surely Google has been making moves to improve choice, and recently, it partnered with LG to offer the company’s latest flagships. Now, they are both available for pre-order.

Just hours ago we learned from AT&T that it would not be selling the G7 ThinQ. Thanks to leaked renders of the forthcoming LG V35 ThinQ and a healthy dose of speculation, it looks like this might the AT&T-exclusive phone that the carrier will carry instead of the G7 ThinQ.
LG is having quite a strange year after first delaying the G7 ThinQ. Now, thanks to a new rumor about the V40 ThinQ, it appears as though LG will release the V35 ThinQ shortly after the G7 ThinQ’s May 2 announcement and then follow that up with the V40 ThinQ’s launch several months later.
