How to run Android apps in Chrome for Mac, Windows, Chrome OS using ARC Welder

ARC Welder is a new Chrome extension that’s designed to be a developer tool, but it comes with a nice bonus: You can use it to install and run dozens upon dozens of Android apps within your browser. Running Android apps in Chrome isn’t exactly a new concept, as Duolingo, Evernote, Vine, and more were previously installable specifically on Chrome OS via the Chrome Web Store. But now Google’s App Runtime for Chrome can run most Android apps to some capacity via ARC Welder anywhere a Chrome browser can be installed (including Chrome OS), and developers can also use the extension to test their apps.

It’s actually pretty easy to get running, and we’ve put together this quick guide to walk you through the process of using your favorite Android apps on the desktop:

T-Mobile promises rates won’t rise, now paying Verizon Edge & AT&T Next bills for switchers, more

Site default logo image

Today during its latest Un-carrier event, T-Mobile announced new initiatives including brand new plans and pricing for businesses and a promise to all of its customers that it won’t increase prices. It’s also paying off bills for those locked into leasing plans on other carriers if they switch to T-Mobile.

That “Un-contract” guarantee that prices won’t increase goes for all of its Simple Choice plans (including Simple Choice promotional plans) as long as you remain a T-Mobile customer with a qualifying plan. However, the carrier will only offer the guarantee to those with unlimited 4G LTE data for two years. The guarantee will automatically start for all existing customers on March 22nd.

Reminder: Registration for Google I/O 2015 opens tomorrow (Update: Today!)

Update: Google I/O registration is now open.

Google I/O 2015 is right around the corner, scheduled to be taking place May 28th and 29th of this year at Moscone Center West. And in case you haven’t been following Google’s own countdown clock, we wanted to give you a bit of a heads up and remind you that registration for the event opens Tuesday. Just like last year, Google will be keeping registration open to the public for a couple days, and then will be holding a random lottery to see who gets to go…

You can head to the Google I/O 2015 registration page Tuesday at 9 AM PDT to register, and the cost will be the same as last year: $900 for a general attendee, and $300 for a student ticket. Before registration opens, make sure you have a Google account set up and ready to go, and it wouldn’t hurt to sign into Google Wallet to add the card that you plan to pay with. Head over to Google’s website to check out the event schedule.

T-Mobile extends 10GB free LTE data to prepaid customers, includes data rollover for up to a year

T-Mobile announced Data Stash back in December, giving postpaid customers 10GB of LTE data free of charge and the ability to roll over their unused data month-to-month for up to a year. As of Sunday March 22nd, prepaid customers will now get to enjoy the same deal.

This month, we’re taking Data Stash even further.  I’m happy to announce that, starting Sunday March 22nd, Data Stash will start rolling out to Simple Choice prepaid customers. Every single one of our prepaid voice customers with a qualifying Simple Choice plan will start out with a Starter Stash with up to 10 GB of 4G LTE data. And when that’s all used up, they’ll start rolling forward their unused data for use up to a full year.  Automatically… and at no extra charge.

T-Mobile says that the ability to roll over data from month to month has been one of the most requested changes, with 27% of postpaid customers having already dipped into their data stash.
