Popular feed reader app Feedly has been updated today to version 27 with a handful of new features. First off, the update adds Google Now integration. The app will now push the most interesting stories to Google Now every morning at 7:00AM, allowing you to quickly digest the most important news of the day.
Google today has started rolling out an update to the Play Store app that bumps it to version 5.5. The update doesn’t add much, but it keeps with Google’s trend of enhancing the design of its in-house apps. With Play Store 5.5, Google has added a new circular animation that appears when you tap on a TV show title.
Meerkat may have had the launch of its live video streaming app rather overshadowed by Twitter’s official app, Periscope, but it has today made it to Android ahead of its competitor.
Meerkat allows you to live stream video from your phone to all of your Twitter followers at once. Press ‘Stream’, and instantly your live video stream shows up in your follower’s Twitter feeds.
When your followers have the app, they will also get pushed notified with your live stream, watch, comment and interact with it using the app.
It’s officially a beta, so don’t expect everything to work perfectly, but TechCrunch says that it appears to work well …

Google Analytics for iOS has received an update this evening that bumps it to version 1.2.0. The update includes a handful of features, such as new comparison capabilities and some small interface tweaks.

After it started showing notifications from 40 Android apps as cards in its Google Now app back in January, today Google turned on the feature for an additional 70 partners.
Google highlighted a few of the new additions including news and updates from ABC News, Circa and Feedly, reminders from Eat24 and Allrecipes, and fitness goal alerts from RunKeeper, Jawbone, and Adidas. You’ll also get prompted from OpenTable to pay your bill and playlist recommendations from Spotify, TuneIn, YouTube, and more.

You’ll need the NFL Mobile app for Android if you plan on catching the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft from your mobile device, and Verizon today has shared that it will exclusively carry the broadcast for its subscribers on Android smartphones. Verizon’s exclusivity deal doesn’t extend to the tablet version of the app, though, so non-Verizon customers can still catch the draft’s live broadcast from the larger mobile app after verifying with a supported cable provider.

Google has released version 9.8 of its Maps application for Android devices and is rolling it out across the Play Store. The updated application includes the ability to select multiple photos to upload to a location. Another addition to the software allows you to hide upcoming reservations, flights, or other appointments from a location to keep the info away from prying eyes.
A few other small tweaks have been made to the app’s iconography and design, but nothing too big.
If you don’t want to wait for Google Maps 9.8 to show up in the Play Store (which could take some time), you can grab the APK and manually install it from this link.

Facebook continues to add new capabilities to its Messenger app today with the launch of a new video calling feature. A new video icon at the top of conversation threads will initiate a call, allowing participants to communicate across platforms over Wi-Fi or LTE connections.
The addition puts Facebook in competition with Google’s Hangouts, Microsoft’s Skype, and other similar services. Interestingly, web-based video chat has been available on the desktop for some time, and was previously powered by Skype.

You may recall last month that Microsoft announced a major partnership with Samsung to include a number of mobile apps on the flagship Galaxy S6 out-of-the-box. If you’ve ever uploaded a file to Google Drive specifically to share it, Google is about to make the process easier: it’s adding a share button to the upload confirmation. As soon as a file is uploaded, just hit the Share Link button.
The updated version of the app will be rolling out over the next week, with a few other improvements thrown in.
- Ability to access a contact’s extended information from the sharing section of the details pane of a file in Drive
- Ability to remove a parent of a file from the details pane when a file is multi-parented

Popular task management app Any.do has been updated to version 3.0 with a slew of new features and a fresh coat of paint. You’ll still find all of your lists and collaboration features as easy to use as ever, but now you’ll be able to see an overview of all of your lists with the new grid mode.

Popular live streaming app Meerkat has announced today that it is opening up a public beta for its upcoming Android client. Currently, Meerkat is available only on iOS. Meerkat promised Android support when it first launch, as did its primary competitor, Periscope.
Google has today released version 1.0 of its new “Handwriting Input” keyboard, which lets you manually draw the text you would like to type. The app works on both smartphones and tablets as you can see in the gallery below, and it’s—based on my first few minutes using the app—actually pretty good at deciphering your handwriting no matter how bad it may be. It works in any Android app that has a text input field.

After unveiling a revamped “quote tweet” functionality for iPhone and web users last week, Twitter today has revealed that the feature is coming to Android devices today. With this change, using the quote tweet feature will now embed the actual tweet instead of simply quoting it as plain text.
The LastPass password manager app has been given a Material Design makeover, and the company has partnered with Samsung to provide Galaxy S6/edge owners with between three and six months of free Premium membership, allowing cross-device use.
On smartphones with fingerprint sensors, you can unlock the app with your fingerprint and then enter passwords automatically. Autofill of passwords and form data is available in the Android version of Chrome, as well as the LastPass browser.
