Samsung brings features and watch faces from its Wear OS Galaxy Watch 4 to older Tizen watches

While Samsung’s attention has clearly shifted over to Wear OS, the company isn’t abandoning its Tizen wearables. Today, alongside the announcement of its One UI 4/Android 12 update, Samsung is launching an update for Tizen smartwatches to bring over features from the Galaxy Watch 4.

Samsung expands ECG and blood pressure on Galaxy Watch 3, 4, and Active to Australia

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series handles smartwatch tasks well, but it’s also been strong when it comes to health tracking. For the past couple of years, Samsung has been making ECG and blood pressure checks available to Galaxy Watch owners, and now, that functionality is finally coming to Australia.

Last year Samsung finally got approval to capture ECG results on two of its smartwatches in select countries, and now that functionality is expanding. Soon, the Galaxy Watch 3 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be able to take ECG and blood pressure readings in over 30 new countries.

Following the Apple Watch a couple of years ago, the ability to take an ECG reading from a smartwatch has been a sort of “holy grail” for health features. Samsung’s past two smartwatch releases, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Galaxy Watch 3, have had the hardware needed for ECG, and today, they’re finally getting the software to take advantage of it.

YouTube gets an official app for Galaxy Watch Active2, coming to older models

App availability is a fairly common complaint about Samsung’s wearables, but a couple of big names are debuting with the Galaxy Watch Active2. Alongside an official Twitter app, YouTube is also arriving on the Galaxy Watch Active2, and it’s also going to be coming to other Samsung Tizen smartwatches.

However, the Galaxy Watch Active which debuted earlier this year ditched that feature. Now, a new report claims that the Galaxy Watch Active2 might just bring back a rotating bezel… sort of.
