Dodocase offering its Google-certified VR viewer for free

Earlier today, Google announced a new program called “Works with Google Cardboard” that highlights all of the third-party Cardboard-compatiable viewers. The program is Google’s attempt at unifying the various variants of Cardboard, which was first shown at I/O 2014, and making sure they are all compatible with the variety of Cardboard apps that are available.

Samsung expected to raise guidance on Galaxy S6 nearly 50% from 35-40M units to 50-55M on strength of Edge

In a recent report, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that Samsung has experienced a better-than-expected market response to its Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices. According to the report, Samsung is expected to raise its 2015 shipment guidance by 50 percent from 35-40 million units to 50-55 million units. Kuo says that the increase in expected shipments is mainly due to a strong showing by the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Android 5.1 factory images now available for Nexus 4, 2013 Nexus 7 (WiFi & Cellular)

Google has just posted the Android 5.1 factory image for the Nexus 4 (LMY47O), WiFi only 2013 Nexus 7, and cellular 2013 Nexus 7. The files are available from Google’s Android Developers website now. Google last month officially announced Android 5.1 and released factory images for the Nexus 5, Nexus 10, and 2012 WiFi Nexus 7. Earlier this week we saw OTA download links for the Nexus 4’s Android 5.1 update, as well.

Jawbone Up3 pre-orders to begin shipping April 20 after delay due to manufacturing issues

Jawbone announced this evening that it finally expects to begin fulfilling pre-orders of its Up3 fitness tracker on April 20th. The company expects all pre-orders to ship no later than mid-May. After pre-orders have been fulfilled, Jawbone will begin shipping new orders of the Up3. Pre-orders will ship in the order they were received.

LG unveils 16MP f/1.8 rear camera and 8MP front-facing shooter coming to the G4

LG has slowly been revealing features of its upcoming G4 flagship ahead of its April 28th launch, and tonight the company has revealed the camera technology that the device will offer. In a press release, LG Innotek revealed that the G4 will offer a 16MP camera with an f/1.8 aperture, which is “the widest aperture camera developed” by the company. LG teased the camera earlier this week.

Samsung expects record sales of Galaxy S6, constrained supply of S6 Edge at launch

Android 5.1 now rolling out to Google Play Edition HTC One M7 & M8

After the Android 5.1 rollout began for the Google Play Edition LG G Pad this morning, the Google Play Edition One M7 and M8 are also now receiving the update. HTC VP of Product Management Mo Versi confirmed on Twitter that the company has received approval for the updates and that the rollouts have commenced. Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out to the Google Play Edition M7 and M8 in December of last year.

Google appears to be developing a teleconferencing tool called GMeet

First noticed by Florian Kiersch on Google+, Google appears to be testing a new meetings service. Google Meetings, also referred to as GMeet, appears to allow users to schedule and join teleconference calls with one click. Instead of having to dial into a teleconference call, one user could create a meeting topic in GMeet, then invite everyone else to the call. People who received an invite would be able to then join the call with a single click.

Report: Samsung’s round smartwatch to be called Gear A, include 3G & calling support

At the time, details were sparse, but now SamMobile has shared another report with more details of the company’s device. HTC posts Q1 2015 earnings guidance, expects revenue & profit to be up year-over-year

Samsung released its earnings guidance for Q1 2015 earlier this evening, and now HTC has done the same. Reuters reports that HTC expects a net profit of $11.6 million for the first quarter of 2015 off of revenue of $1.3 billion. While these numbers are down slightly when compared to Q4 of 2014, they are up significantly from the year ago quarter.

Android 5.0 Lollipop to start rolling out to AT&T’s HTC One M8 on April 7
