Since the holidays, there’s been a lull in official Stadia announcements from Google. However, an interview today with Gylt’s Tequila Works reveals some insight into the development process and hints about what’s coming to Stadia.
One of the big promises of Google Stadia is that Stadia Pro can bring games in up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with HDR colors, but unfortunately not every game can check all of those boxes.
As of today, Google won’t tell you the resolution or frame rate at which Stadia runs each game, but thankfully a Stadia fan site has taken up the task.
Google Stadia’s library of games is slowly growing, and 2020 is set to see a pretty big expansion. For two of those upcoming Google Stadia titles, there’s some big news including a delay for Marvel’s Avengers and a new trailer for Doom: Eternal.
One of the biggest valid criticisms of Google Stadia’s launch was its limited game selection. Over the course of the last year, the library has steadily expanded with AAA and indie titles alike. However, before 2020 comes to a close Stadia still has a few more tricks up its sleeve, with over 25 games slated to arrive by the end of the year. Google Stadia’s biggest issue right now comes down to the amount of content available. Not only is the list short, but there are no compelling exclusives yet. Stadia Games and Entertainment plans to fix that, and now, Google is bringing in Typhoon Studios to help in that endeavor.
Just before launch, Google was able to bring the total number of available Stadia games to 22 with a promise of more before year’s end. Stadia’s three more games — starting with Borderlands 3 and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 — are available today, while Ghost Recon Breakpoint is coming tomorrow.
