The Huawei drama continues. This week, some Huawei P30 Pro users are reporting that SafetyNet tests are failing on their devices, breaking many apps including Netflix and Google Pay, and Huawei has confirmed the issue.

Huawei is currently preparing to launch its new flagship without Google apps, but its former P30 Pro is getting some upgrades. At IFA 2019 this week, Huawei has launched the P30 Pro in two new color variants as well as teasing the phone’s Android 10 upgrade.
Despite US sanctions weighing heavily on Huawei’s neck, their latest flagship devices, the P30 and P30 Pro, appear to be receiving an update in China that brings with it DC Dimming features along with much needed in-display fingerprint reader improvements.
We’ve just had a short hands-on session with the next full release of EMUI 10 for Huawei phones, but until then, EMUI 9.1 is still technically the latest and greatest from the company. With that said, the latest EMUI update for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro is bringing some new features and even the latest security patch.
Huawei remains adamant that the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro plus a further 15 devices will get updated to Android Q even despite the ongoing US trade ban.

Over the past week, the fallout from the US ban on American companies working with Huawei has escalated. Google — after a three-month reprieve — will not be able to work with the Chinese company on launching new devices, or updating existing ones. The latest development sees Google remove the Huawei Mate X and P30 Pro from Android.com entirely.

The Huawei P30 Pro is an amazing smartphone if for its camera alone. Sadly, though, Huawei isn’t making a variant for US markets. Today, though, B&H Photo has opened up pre-orders for the Huawei P30 and Pro in the United States.

The Huawei P30 Pro looks to be a real camera contender. It’s racked up the highest DxOMark score ever seen with a total score of 112 — and that’s with four rear-facing cameras. Meanwhile, the 6-month-old Pixel 3 only has one rear-facing camera that is backed up by some of the best post-processing on the entire market. But how do they stack up against one another?
For all of Huawei’s questionable comparisons between itself and the iPhone throughout its entire launch keynote, its flagship, the Huawei P30 Pro, is most definitely more of a contender within the top-tier Android space — which is currently no doubt occupied by the Samsung Galaxy S10.
