Moto Z2 Play reported to effectively ditch the best part of the Moto Z Play, its battery life

Battery life is something we simply never have enough of. Motorola, though, seemed to solve that problem last year with the Moto Z Play, which could easily get through multiple days on a single charge, thanks to a huge internal power pack. However, it’s looking like the Moto Z2 Play is unfortunately going to ditch the generous battery capacity…

No, Motorola is probably not switching to the ZUI skin for upcoming devices (in the US, at least)

Some of the best aspects of almost any Motorola device over the past few years have been fast updates and clean software. While the former of those is long gone, clean software is still very much present. Now, a sketchy report making its way through the Android blogosphere misleadingly suggests that Moto is ditching that for a heavy-handed custom software layer over Android.

That concern, which seems to be spreading quickly, is pretty much unfounded…

Comment: The Keyboard Mod will be the accessory that makes me go back to the Moto Z

Site default logo image

I know I am in a minority with this opinion, but I really do miss physical keyboards on phones. So much so that I cannot wait for the BlackBerry KeyOne to come out just so I can have a handset that doesn’t rely on an on-screen keyboard. That’s why when an Indiegogo campaign making a keyboard for the Moto Z posted pictures of its prototype, I got so excited…

The Moto Z2 Force likely won’t be a Verizon exclusive, may come to T-Mobile

Last year’s Moto Z was a pretty solid phone, but I don’t think anyone can deny that the Moto Z Force was better. With improved battery life, the shatterproof display, and a more comfortable build, it was just no contest. Except for one thing. The Moto Z Force was an exclusive to Verizon. The Moto Z2 Force, though, may change that.

The unlocked Moto Z Play is now being updated to Android Nougat

One of the quiet winners in the mobile space last year was the Moto Z Play. With mid-range specs, a solid premium build, compatibility with Moto Mods, and battery life that isn’t rivaled by anyone else, all for under $500, the Z Play easily became one of the best options on the market and now, it’s getting even better.

moto mods

Modular smartphones haven’t taken off for a number of reasons, but one of the big ones is the fear that a year after purchasing your phone and bunch of mods, they’ll all become irrelevant with new hardware. Well, Motorola/Lenovo have just put those concerns to rest for Moto Mod owners.

Android Basics: How to take a screenshot on all Moto Z variants

As with any mobile device, it is always important to know how to capture information on your screen. Thankfully, Lenovo also didn’t change the screenshot process that can be found baked into almost every Android device…

New leaked photos show a forthcoming Moto phone, perhaps a 2017 Moto X

Site default logo image

Earlier this month we saw some images come out of techdroider.com purporting to show a forthcoming 2017 Moto phone. We were hesitant to share those because they were the first we had seen of a 2017 Moto phone. Now it appears that they are at least likely to be an early prototype of some kind of phone that Moto is releasing next year. Another pair of images of the new phone have now cropped up via an anonymous tipster for the same site…
