Just a day after offering deals on some of its most popular content, Google today has listed Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming film ‘Serena’ on the Play Store. The film is not slated to hit theaters in the United States until March 27th, but eager Lawrence fans can rent it on the Play Store now for $9.99 in SD or $10.99 in HD.
According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Google’s upcoming wireless service will only work with the Nexus 6 and no other devices. Citing people familiar with the matter, the report doesn’t delve into too many details regarding Google’s reasoning for why it’s limiting the service to the Nexus 6.

Google this morning has released a major update for Gmail on iOS. The update bumps the app to version 4.0 and packs a handful of new features. Sprint this morning has announced that it is rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Galaxy Note 4 variant. The update carries the build number N910PVPU1BOB7 and includes all of the Lollipop enhancements we’ve come to expect, as well as various bug fixes.

Alcatel has just taken the wraps off of its new Idol 3 series of budget smartphones, as well as its Hero 2+ flagship. The Idol 3 series consists of two variants, one that comes in at 4.7-inches and another at 5.5-inches. The 4.7-inch Idol 3 is powered by a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz paired with Android 5.0 Lollipop and a 13MP rear-facing camera. The battery comes in at 2000mAh, while the screen packs a 1280×720 resolution.

Samsung is expected to unveil the 0ft-rumored Galaxy S6 in just a little bit during its 2015 Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The device has been the subject of speculation for months now, with the company expected to totally refresh the design of the phone with either an all-metal or all-glass deign. AT&T has announced this morning that it will soon carry LG’s all-metal Watch Urbane. Revealed last month, the Watch Urbane is nearly identical to LG’s Watch R, only much more sleek with all-metal designs in either gold or silver trims.

Sprint this afternoon has announced that it will begin to offer the LG G Pad F 7.0 on March 13th. The carrier says the device will be available for free with a two-year contract and purchase of any of its available smartphones. For those not looking to bundle, the device is also available for on Sprint Easy Pay for $10 a month for 24 months.
According to a new report out of The Wall Street Journal, Google’s YouTube unit posted a revenue of nearly $4 billion in 2014, but did not earn a profit of any kind. The $4 billion in revenue during 2014 is up from $3 billion in 2013. YouTube accounted for about 6 percent Google’s overall sales last year.
In an effort to remedy remaining unprofitable, YouTube is planning to launch a new ad-targeting system later this year, the WSJ says, though details remain unclear. …
Google today has announced that it is introducing a way to automatically convert Adobe Flash-based ads to HTML5. Google says that eligible Flash ad campaigns, both existing and new, will automatically be converted to HTML5 when uploaded through AdWords, AdWords Editor, and a variety of third-party tools.
Samsung had seemingly done an excellent job at keeping its upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship under wraps, but now an XDA Developers user has allegedly gotten his hands on at least one variant of the device. The pictures unfortunately are not of the greatest quality as the phone is wrapped in bubble wrap, but they do give us one of the best looks at what could be the device to date.
The often hard to come by Nexus 6 is now available directly from Amazon. Previously only available via third-party retailers on the site, which often increased prices due to availability, the Nexus 6 is now available on Amazon and ships directly from the site’s warehouses. Before tonight, the Nexus 6 was only available from Motorola and Google Play.
Last May, Google was hit with an class-action anti-trust lawsuit over several of its Android and Search practices. The case centered around the idea that Google was forcing Android handset manufacturers to make its search engine the default on all their devices, as well as pre-load apps such as YouTube. These practices, in turn, drove up the price of Android devices. Reuters reports this evening, however, that a federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit due to a lack of evidence from the plaintiffs.
Last year, the Italian government gave Google 18 months to reform its tata collection policies and change the way it stores and treats that user data. The Wall Street Journal reports today that Google has now agreed to allow the Italian government to perform spot checks at its Mountain View headquarters. The regulator will get quarterly updates from Google and have the ability to send someone to Mountain View for “on-the-spot checks.”
