The Google Store rolled out a suite of deals on Black Friday, but on Cyber Monday announced a new set of offers on its most in-demand items. A Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL purchase nabs a Google Home Mini and $100 store credit. Meanwhile, the first Pixelbook offer throws in a Google Home.
As part of Black Friday last week, Project Fi launched a deal on the Android One Moto X4 that nabbed subscribers $100 worth of credit that goes towards their monthly bill. On Cyber Monday, the Google MVNO has extended this offer to the Pixel 2 line and last year’s Pixel XL.
In time for Black Friday, Google Play is hosting a number of offers on apps, movies, TV shows, and books. Many of the deals start today and end on Cyber Monday, but some of the best savings come into effect this Saturday.
Black Friday may have come and gone, but tech companies and retailers are keen to keep the discounts running through this week with their annual Cyber Monday deals. Whether you’re looking to get yourself a new smartphone or tablet, or buy one for a friend/family member, there are plenty of good discounts to be had this week…
If you’re after a fantastic current flagship smartphone this holiday season, you may just be in luck today. One of Amazon’s Cyber Monday deals is an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 for just $399. That’s a full $200 discount on its original full retail price, and $40 cheaper than we’ve seen it elsewhere. Specifically, Amazon is offering the 32GB US Version in Black, the same color shown in the image above.
As a reminder, the Galaxy S6 was the first major flagship Samsung device to feature an all-glass and metal build, departing from the plastic devices of previous years. It has a 5.1-inch Quad HD resolution AMOLED screen coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and is powered by a Samsung Exynos 7420 octa-core processor. The main camera on the back boasts 16 megapixels, 4K video recording and optical image stabilization while the front camera is 5MP. It’s also equipped with a fingerprint scanner, wireless charging and a 2,550mAh battery.
If you’re wanting to grab one, we’d advise doing it soon. Last week when the Nexus 6 dropped in price for Black Friday, inventory put aside for the daily deal sold out within a couple of hours. We expect a phone as desirable as the S6 won’t take long to sell out either.
Motorola today has revealed its plans for the Cyber Monday shopping holiday, but before you get too excited, the deals are absolutely nothing to write home about. Amazon has never been a company to provide specific sales numbers, but their just-issued press release shows us that Android, Kindle and Chromebooks dominated their holiday shopping season. Surprisingly, or perhaps not surprising at all is the Chromecast, which is the best seller in the Computers and Accessories category outselling the company’s own Kindle Fire lineup as well as Apple TV and the Roku 3 Streaming Media player.
Did you miss out on Motorola’s $350 off-contract Cyber Monday deal for the Moto X? If you did, here’s another opportunity to score the device sans contract for that very same price. The offer is “exclusive to Today Show viewers” but like any good deal made its way over to Slick Deals where readers are grabbing their shiny new Moto X units.
Oh the weather outside is…not yet frightful but the deals have already started and the holiday season is moving into full swing. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday now behind us, it begs the question what goodies you purchased over this holiday weekend? Did you grab a new tablet, smartphone, Chromebook, HTC One, LG G2, Galaxy S 4 or something else entirely?
Update: Motorla has just detailed the full process for obtaining a Moto X at $350 on its blog. The company will now issue coupon codes to obtain the device at a discount, and customers will have one week to redeem the code and design their device with Moto Maker. Visit Motorola’s blog for the detailed instructions.
There’s plenty of good Cyber Monday deals to be had and more will likely pop up as the day continues, but this 2013 Nexus 7 is one of the good ones. Offering $60 and $40 discounts, the free shipping offer includes both the 16GB and 32GB models. We should note that the 16GB version from ShopDivvy (tax in North Dakota) is a manufacturer refurb and comes ASUS re-certified and with the ASUS warranty. The 32GB model from Adorama is new and tax only applies New Jersey.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shocked Charlie Rose on Cyber Monday Eve (great timing for the PR-savvy retail giant) by showing him the future of delivery services – autonomous drones that will pick up and deliver wares from fulfillment centers. From which we can conclude that Charlie Rose doesn’t read 9to5Google, where the concept is old news.
We mentioned way back in February that Google was already working on drone delivery services:
Along with Glass, Google will have an opportunity to demonstrate other upcoming and Google X projects like driverless cars and mini-drone delivery systems at its stores.
9to5Google also heard this service was coming, and we have some more somewhat wild information on the program. Google, in the long run, plans to use self-driving cars and flying drones as means of delivery. We also heard Google’s delivery project came from the Google X incubator headed by cofounder Sergey Brin.
Clearly there are a lot of hurdles to jump on the way to this vision (privacy, theft, accidents, visual pollution, etc, etc). but it’s equally clear that these two Silicon Valley heavy-weights are prepping to battle in the skies above.
Google might have gotten there first, but Amazon definitely wins the PR battle so far: a short concept video for a service which doesn’t yet exist, and which even optimistically it doesn’t expect to launch for a couple of years, got everyone talking about them. Including Charlie Rose. Video below …
