Lenovo IdeaPad N20p Touchscreen Chromebook is down to $170 today
While the door-busting Black Friday weekend deals are long gone, there are still some great discounts out there for holiday shoppers. One of today’s featured tech deals on eBay is a heavily discounted Lenovo IdeaPad N20p Chromebook. The Chrome OS-based laptop normally retails at around $300, and is currently available for just $170 in limited quantity. As a reference, the same Chromebook is priced at $290 on Amazon, where even used models are more expensive than the eBay deal.
Spec-wise, the Lenovo IdeaPad N20p is respectable. It has an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 resolution, 10-point multitouch display which can swivel around 300. Inside, there’s a 2.16GHz quad-core Intel Celeron processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. It has a plethora of I/O ports too; there’s a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 port, SD card slot, mini HDMI out, 3.5mm jack and the necessary power input. It also has built-in stereo speakers, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. Not a bad spec-list for a device that costs less than $200.
If the Lenovo IdeaPad doesn’t take your fancy (even at this price), and you’re hunting for a Chromebook this holiday season, we’ve compiled a list of what we think are the best Chromebooks for any budget.

Deal: Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 5 available for $550
The holiday shopping season is so close to kicking off, you can almost feel it. Those of you looking to snag a top flagship Android smartphone at a discounted price should look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It’s undoubtedly one of this year’s best phones, and comes with a bunch of market-leading features and specifications. Up until now though, you could only get one by coughing up close to $800.
A retailer on eBay is currently offering the high-end phablet for just $550 with the option to spread payments over six months. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on sale from experienced seller, Breed, comes in brand new condition in the official Samsung retail packaging and is carrier unlocked. It has 32GB built-in storage and is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile’s LTE network, with support for bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 26.
As a reminder, the Note 5 packs in a Quad HD resolution 5.7-inch display, a fantastic 16MP camera on the back and 4GB RAM inside paired with a powerful octa-core Exynos processor. It’s powered by a 3,000mAh battery, and is compatible with fast-charging technologies through wireless and traditional plug-in charging methods.
If you want to take advantage of the deal, head on over to the eBay page and snag one, before the ‘limited quantity’ is depleted and none are left. At time of writing, more than 240 have been sold, and we don’t know how many are left.

Nexus 6 price drops further to $299, but not for long
With Google having recently announced the brand new LG and Huawei-made Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, it could be the perfect time to pick up last year’s “Pure Android” flagship. The Motorola Nexus 6 recently got dropped to just $349 on Amazon, but a third-party reseller on eBay has just undercut that price by a cool $50. You can buy last year’s stock Android flagship for just $299.
As far as specs go, the Nexus 6 still holds up really well. In fact, it’s still my daily driver. That’s mostly to do with how smoothly it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow which I’ve been running since Dev Preview 2. It has a huge 5.9-inch QuadHD display, stereo front-facing speakers, 3220mAh battery with QuickCharge and Qi charging support along with Snapdragon’s powerful quad-core 805-series processor.
The eBay listing notes that quantities are limited, so if you’re wanting to snag the N6 as cheaply as possible, you should do so before inventory vanishes.

OnePlus auctioning OnePlus 2 invites on eBay for charity
In a blog post this morning, OnePlus announced that it is auctioning off 100 OnePlus 2 invites on eBay with the proceeds going towards the UNICEF Tap Project. Fifty invites have already landed on OnePlus’ official eBay shop with the other fifty due to hit the store a little later.
All invites are for the 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus 2 and the auctions work just like any regular eBay auction. Winning bidders will be sent the invites by email and once received, will be able to use those to immediately go and buy one the new OnePlus 2 handsets from the manufacturer’s store. All invites will be sent out on August 10th and unlike regular invites, winning bidders will have an entire month to purchase the phone. With the reservation list having already hit the 1 million mark, there will surely be a number of people clamoring to get an invite any way they can.
Part of this move was in order to combat the invites which would unofficially make their way to eBay. In the past, people have been selling their OnePlus invites online and pocketing the pure profit. With this strategy, OnePlus doesn’t just open up a more “official” way to buy invites, it’s also helping out an important cause.
UNICEF’s Tap Project was started to get clean, safe water to children in underprivileged areas and 100% of OnePlus’ eBay auction proceeds will go straight to the charity. If you’d like to, you can read more about the charity here. OnePlus Invite auctions on eBay last 5 days and — at time of writing — there are invites that have raised more than $500.
As promotional moves go, this is a hugely redeeming strategy from a company which has drawn so much negative attention over the past couple of years. Kudos, OnePlus.

StubHub shows off 3D maps for mobile app and site, says open APIs coming soon
StubHub is the latest company to join the 3D craze with updated maps for its online and mobile apps counterparts.
The 12-year-old online ticket reseller, bought by eBay in 2007, allows users to buy and sell tickets for sports, concerts, theatre, and other live entertainment events. It acquired Peekspy, which is a company that leverage’s Google Earth’s technology to create 3D products, in early 2012 for an undisclosed amount. Fanvenue, Peekspy’s website, further builds 3D interactive seating maps for venues and stadiums.
With Peekspy in its pocket for the last six months, StubHub is preparing to roll out 3D maps. The tech is for both online and mobile, but StubHub said it is working toward a consistent experience on both platforms. The first phase is onsite only, but upcoming rollouts will simultaneously land for both Stubhub.com and mobile.
StubHub Product Director Mats Nilsson announced at a media event in New York City recently that StubHub for Android would soon sport the tech, although an exact launch date has not been announced, so folks could find seats in a more easier and entertaining way. For instance: Users on either Android, iOS or Windows Phone will be able to hover over a desired seating section, tap to zoom, and then closely inspect desired seats, interior views, stage setup, bathroom locations, and more.
Only a few venues are now launch-ready for mobile apps, such as Yankee Stadium, but Nilsson said StubHub is diligently working with many arenas to get 3D maps into full swing. With that said, MLB stadiums are now live online as part of the “first phase” previously mentioned by StubHub.
In related news, StubHub CTO Raji Arasu revealed plans to completely open APIs in the coming months. The limited StubHub API already allows some partners, such as ESPN, to gain information and functionality, but the ticket reseller hopes full read-and-write access for all will further encourage development.
A gallery of StubHub 3D maps is below.

The world must be ending—because Google, Facebook, Amazon, and eBay just united for a cause.
The Web’s leading giants apparently formed an “Internet Association” to lobby on Capitol Hill. The Washington Post first detailed the alliance, which former Congressional guru Michael Beckerman leads, while it further noted a full list of parties is not yet known. An anonymous source told the publication, however, that the above four companies are the most notable members.
Beckerman most recently served as deputy staff director to the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, and he boasts more than 12 years in Washington under his belt.
“The Internet must have a voice in Washington,” explained Beckerman in a press release (PDF). The Internet Association, which officially launches in September, aims to act as the Web’s executive voice.
Google is already copiously betted in various lobbying issues. 9to5Google even reported earlier this week that the folks in Mountain View spent over $5 million lobbying in Q2 2012.
