PhotoScan now lets you scan photos faster and share them directly from the app

Site default logo image

Last November, Google introduced a new application called PhotoScan that allows users to quickly and easily scan old printed out photographs with their phones and then save them to the cloud. As photos are glossy, they tend to glare. The app’s solution to this problem involves having users take multiple photos of the physical image from different angles. In an update rolling out now, users will be able to scan photos even faster by only requiring them to take a single photograph of the physical image…

Comment: The Keyboard Mod will be the accessory that makes me go back to the Moto Z

Site default logo image

I know I am in a minority with this opinion, but I really do miss physical keyboards on phones. So much so that I cannot wait for the BlackBerry KeyOne to come out just so I can have a handset that doesn’t rely on an on-screen keyboard. That’s why when an Indiegogo campaign making a keyboard for the Moto Z posted pictures of its prototype, I got so excited…

Should Android apps have the navigation bar on the top or bottom of the screen? [Poll]

Site default logo image

There is a new trend in which developers have started to move the placement of the navigation bar within their apps. Before, if an Android app had a navigation bar, it most likely would have been placed on the top of the screen. Recently, though, we have started to see more apps move it to the bottom of the screen, much like how apps are designed for iOS. Do you think apps look and work better with the navigation bar placed on the top or bottom of the screen?

If you could, what specs would you upgrade in your smartphone? [Poll]

Site default logo image

Whenever new devices come out, there are companies like iFixIt that tear them apart and attempt to see how difficult it is to repair them. In these cases, though, they are only looking at how easy it is to repair broken screens, replace batteries, and fix other minor aspects of the device.

Today, we received a report of a Nexus 5X owner who was able to successfully double the amount of installed RAM from 2GB to 4GB. A while back, another user even upgraded his Nexus 5 with extra storage. If it was possible, would you manually swap out the preinstalled internal hardware for something newer and more powerful?

Android is all about customization and allowing users to change the operating system to fit their style. For this reason, custom builds of Android allow for users to enable dark themes throughout the operating system and some app developers have also built dark themes into their apps.
