How to enable the Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL’s grayscale display mode

It’s becoming a popular trend to find ways to curb smartphone addiction, and the latest technique involves making your phone as dull- and boring-looking as possible — by enabling its grayscale mode. Enabling grayscale on a Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL is fairly straightforward, although it might not seem that way since there’s no grayscale option in the phone’s accessibility settings.

Should Google, OnePlus, and others run surveys on phones without a user’s consent? [Poll]

Last July, OnePlus was in the news for running a survey on user phones, asking them what they thought of the device. Then, today, Google began doing something very similar but instead of making it a dismissable notification, the company added a pop-up to a Pixel 2 XL’s settings menu.

Do you think companies should be allowed to add notifications or pop-ups to its smartphones asking customers to answer surveys?

Hands-on: Whitestone Dome Glass makes essentially the perfect screen protector for the Google Pixel 2 XL [Video]

Curved glass has been a trend in the smartphone industry for a few years now, and it’s not really a bad one. Curving the edges and corners of glass help make the device a bit more durable, and it also just looks really cool. However, it’s made getting good screen protectors nearly impossible, especially when that curve is more on the dramatic side.

There have been a lot of inexpensive “solutions” to this, but frankly, they’re not any good. When you up the investment, though, the products get much better, and that’s obvious in the case of Glass Dome screen protectors from Whitestone. Recently, the company brought its product to the Pixel 2 XL, so let’s take a closer look.

Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL see near 40% boost in sales over Christmas weekend

Smartphones were probably one of the tops gifts this week at Christmas, and it’s been a good year to gift a phone with tons of great options available. Between the Note 8, Pixel 2, and Apple’s latest crop of iPhones, there are a ton of good phones on the market. However, in an interesting turn of events, it seems that Google actually won the weekend, at least in terms of a boost in sales.

Review: Moshi’s USB-C digital audio adapter with charging is useful but also huge

Despite mocking the iPhone last year over the lack of a headphone jack, Google decided to remove the 3.5mm port from its latest flagship smartphones. Because of this, users either have to convert to USB-C or Bluetooth headphones or use the included USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. But what if you want to charge and listen to music at the same time with wired headphones? Moshi has you covered, but it won’t come cheap…

Review: LifeProof’s Fre case adds weatherproofing to the Pixel 2, but that isn’t its best quality

For years, LifeProof cases have been the gold standard for making your smartphone water-resistant while also adding protection from drops and dings. But with most handsets now being water and dust resistant, are LifeProof’s Frē cases worth your money? While the flagship weatherproofing feature might not be as important these days, the Frē is still one of the best cases when adding 360-degree protection to your Pixel 2 while not adding too much bulk…
