Hands-on: Bixby Voice still isn’t ready for prime time, but the beta gets it started [Video]

The wait is almost over for the official rollout of Bixby Voice, but we have the beta version running on our Galaxy S8 right now. Users who registered their Samsung account for beta testing should be receiving an OTA update, prompted by opening the Bixby feed app. It’s not fully functional yet, and we’re still unsure of when the final version will be released, but the beta software provides some insight as to what we can expect.

Samsung, LG & Moto all saw U.S. sales decline, says Kantar, with particular disappointment for Samsung

The latest Kantar market share data shows that Samsung, LG and Moto all experienced year-on-year declines in U.S. sales. The firm noted that neither Samsung’s S8 or LG’s G6 made the list of top-10 selling phones in the three-month period ending in April.

News for Samsung was particularly disappointing …

Galaxy S8 update adds Android Pay functionality which was missing for some reason

The Galaxy S8 is really one of the best phones I’ve ever used, but boy oh boy does it confuse me sometimes. Not so much in the phone itself, but why some things are different on it compared to the rest of the ecosystem. Today one of those odd issues is finally being fixed as Samsung is rolling out updates that bring back Android Pay functionality.

Consumer Reports: Galaxy S8 bests iPhone 7 despite ‘awkwardly placed’ rear fingerprint sensor & more

Consumer Reports today is out with its latest smartphone ratings, highlighting recent releases from Samsung. The iPhone 7 is also in the mix, even though it’s nearing 9 months on the market at this point.

Given the iPhone 7’s age, it shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise that it was beat out by newer flagship devices from Samsung and LG…

Hands on with some of the best cases for the Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is one awesome smartphone, offering up basically all of the features you would want and more. Included in that is protection against water and dust, which is fantastic. However, the metal and glass build of this phone essentially turns it into a device asking to be broken, and many customers have already had that occur.

So, as good-looking as the S8 is, it’s best to toss it into a case, since breaking a phone that can cost upwards of $800 is no fun at all. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been personally testing out several Galaxy S8 cases, and below, I’ve listed out my favorites, and yes, they’re all available for the Galaxy S8+ as well.

Do you prefer the Pixel’s navigation buttons over Samsung’s on-screen keys? [Poll]

Today we found out that by just installing an APK onto the Samsung Galaxy S8, you could “replace” the preinstalled navigation buttons with another OEM’s design. While this technique doesn’t actually remove Samsung’s keys, it does allow users to make them appear like stock Android’s. Is there a particular company’s navigation buttons that you like most?

The Galaxy S8’s iris scanner can be ‘hacked’ using a contact and an IR image

The smartphone has basically become a human appendage. Not only is it always in people’s hands or pockets, it stores all of our banking information, photos, and private messages. To protect them, companies like Samsung offer biometric security features like iris scanning to unlock phones. While it might seem secure, a hacker just proved how easy it is to bypass Samsung’s iris scanner…

Samsung offering Galaxy S8 BOGO deal that doesn’t involve annoying monthly credits

The Galaxy S8 is the best phone Samsung has ever made, and it’s easily one of the best Android devices ever made. However, that comes at a cost. For the base Galaxy S8, you’ll need to fork over at least $750, which is no small number for any phone, and that only gets worse when you’re buying a couple within a family. Now, Samsung is making it easier to pick up its latest flagship with an excellent deal on its website.

Five great launchers to try on your Galaxy S8 [Video]

No matter how much Samsung improves the UI on its wildly popular Galaxy phones (and no matter how many times its name changes), there’s always going to be a collective of Google purists (admittedly, I’m one of them) who just aren’t satisfied with the default experience.

Some of the features Samsung brings to the table are nice — they were the first to introduce split screen apps to Android, after all. But some find the heavy use of white backgrounds on the Galaxy S8 a bit of an eyesore, and quickly install a darker theme.

Others find the home screen layout a little too limited in customizability, and for those people we’ve highlighted some of the best custom launchers you can download on your Galaxy S8 to bring a personal touch to one of the most common phones on the market.

T-Mobile offering BOGO free deal on Galaxy S8 starting May 12 [Updated]

T-Mobile Uncarrier Next

Update: T-Mobile’s Galaxy BOGO deal is now live on its website. According to the terms of the deal, the first device purchased can actually either be the smaller Galaxy S8 or the larger S8+. However, if you choose the Galaxy S8+ as the secondary “free” smartphone you will end paying $100 for the handset as the promotion only covers the cost of the standard Galaxy S8 with the $750 gift card.

Samsung hit it out of the park with the Galaxy S8 and are fans clamoring to get their hands on the flagship smartphone. Now, according to a leaked internal document on Reddit, T-Mobile will be offering a buy one get one free deal on the Galaxy S8. But, of course, there are a couple of catches…

Samsung has officially rolled out the voice assistant component of its intelligent assistant, Bixby, to Galaxy S8 users in its home market of South Korea. ZDNet noted that the service was activated today.

Samsung began the voice command service at 1pm KST on Monday, after sending a notice in the morning to users of the smartphones.

I wish Samsung would mass-produce this Galaxy S8 with a completely transparent back [Video]

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ are two of the best-looking smartphones on the market today, showing just how far we’ve come with handheld electronic design. Back in the day, though, we had the epic looking design trend of making a transparent casing, showing off the circuit boards and components that made your device run. Now, YouTuber JerryRigEverything has taken his Galaxy S8 and produced that same effect, and it looks amazing…

Site default logo image

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are easily two of the best phones you can buy today, if not the best. However, since their debut, many customers have been running into issues with a “red tint” on the display. Now, Samsung has come out with another statement to say that this issue is not a defect…
