Some Pixel 3a owners can’t seem to update from Android Pie directly to Android 11

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL may have been superseded by the Pixel 4a — and recently released 4a 5G — but that doesn’t mean they are not great devices. While they still offer a “premium” Pixel experience at a lower cost, it looks as though some Pixel 3a and 3a XL owners are having issues upgrading from Android Pie to the newly released Android 11.

Amazon drops Fire OS 7 based on Android Pie for Fire HD 8, HD 7, and Fire 7

Considering how janky the experience can be on some of the older Amazon Fire tablets, the lack of “real” support and general bargain basement experience, only the recent models have managed to get our seal of approval. However, if you own an older 2018 Fire HD 8, 2017’s Fire HD 7, and 2019’s Fire 7 tablet, the Android Pie-based Fire OS 7 is now available to download.

Android Pie beta now rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 8

After we reported earlier this month that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could receive a beta program ahead of the official Android Pie rollout, we didn’t expect the program to open quite so soon. Even so, Note 8 users will be happy to hear that their handsets will get a taste of Pie and One UI at least in beta form — for now.

Samsung’s Android Pie open beta hits Galaxy S9 and S9+ this month, public release January 2019

Since the release of Android Pie, many devices have been brought up to date with the latest version of Android. While this has been the case for many traditional brands like OnePlus and LG, Samsung devices have been noticeably absent. Now it seems the wait will soon be over, with the first beta of Samsung’s vision for Android Pie coming this month.
