Gmail for iOS now receives 2-Step Verification Prompts, new default over Google app

Last year, Google replaced SMS as the default 2-Step Verification method for users with device-based Prompts. Built into Android at a system-level, iOS users were instructed to install the Google app for two-factor authentication when logging in. To increase adoption, Google is now making 2SV available from the iOS Gmail app.

Chrome 66 for Android restricts autoplay, adds ‘Home Duplex’ and rounded ‘Modern Design’

Following the Mac, Windows, and Linux release earlier this afternoon, Chrome 66 is now rolling out to Android. There are several design tweaks with this update, but most still require a flag to enable. Meanwhile, there are changes to when media can autoplay, as well as the usual security and developer features.

Google Safe Browsing protections will soon extend to WebViews in Android apps

As of last year, Google Safe Browsing defends 3 billion devices from nefarious links, sites, malware, and more depending on the platform. Starting this month, its protections now apply to the WebView used by Android apps that don’t open a browser or use Chrome Custom Tabs.
