Google I/O is a developer event and that focus was in full force earlier this month. Of course, for the consumer, it can be a bit hard to be interested by the laying of groundwork for future functionality.

However, compared to previous years, I/O 2017 was wildly exciting for the slew of updates that Google quickly rolled out to one of its existing products. A year after its introduction, the Assistant received new features that notably make it more useful and reaffirm how important it is to Google’s future.

Google Opinion Rewards hits India, Singapore, and Turkey in latest update

Update: Google has reached out to clarify that while Opinion Rewards is available now in India and Turkey, it’s not coming to Singapore until May 31st.

Occasionally, one of Google’s apps will get an update just to expand international availability. Today’s update to Google Opinion Rewards, the company’s app that pays you in Google Play credit to answer short surveys about topics (sometimes) relevant to you, is one of those cases.

Instagram updates Explore with new location and hashtag stories

Instagram’s Explore tab already features search and discovery for finding new photos and videos on the service, and now the social network is introducing new location and hashtag stories.

The new location stories will appear when you’re near that current location and other Instagram users are posting with the format and tagging location. Hashtag stories will appear from search results and include stories that use specific hashtag stickers.

Google’s physical photo book creation tool appears to be rolling out to the Photos app
