During the build-up to MWC 2019, we knew that 5G would likely be pushed like never before at the event. Just a week prior we saw the Samsung Galaxy Fold unveiled at Unpacked 2019, but little did we know that this year MWC would kind of boil down to a case of 5G vs foldables.
At MWC 2019, the Google Android Partner Walk may have been one of the side attractions for attendees in Barcelona. But it was the perfect showcase of Google’s ARCore functionality and how it could help improve our navigation systems of the future. Not only that but simply by collecting pins — both physical and digital — you could potentially earn some neat prizes.

The Sony Xperia 1, Sony Xperia 10 and Sony Xperia 10 Plus have to be considered odd devices in many regards. For starters, we weren’t really able to actually use the Xperia 1 during the official MWC 2019 launch as the software is still very much in an unfinished state, but we did get to see what the device can offer up close and in person.

With the Nokia 9 PureView, HMD is aiming for a seat towards the top of the camera charts alongside some of the best devices out there.
At MWC we were told that we would see the first OnePlus device to include 5G connectivity. Well, that kind of turned out to be true as we have seen a OnePlus 5G prototype device that was connected to a 5G network and streaming games from the cloud streaming service Shadow.

At last year’s MWC, Google announced that their Flutter app development SDK was ready to move from alpha to beta testing. Today at MWC 2019, Flutter is getting its second stable release, version 1.2, combined with the release of version 2.2 of the Dart programming language.
The LG V50 ThinQ looks to be a great handset and has all the hallmarks of an excellent device. The problem is that unlike the LG G8 ThinQ, it really doesn’t have any truly standout features unless you count the optional folding gamepad as part of the entire package.
There are very few gimmicks on phones that we haven’t already seen, but LG has brought a few new tricks to the table with the unveiling of the LG G8 ThinQ that in practice look less like gimmicks and more like glimpses into the future.

Qualcomm has a strong presence at MWC 2019, with their chips powering many of the biggest newly announced devices. As phones are continuing to shift away from traditional wired charging to wireless charging, Qualcomm is also updating their Quick Charge technology to be compatible with Qi and other wireless chargers.
Following yesterday’s MWC 2019 announcement that more phones will feature dedicated hardware buttons, Google is expanding where users can access Assistant. It will soon be available in Messages for Android, and coming to more languages in Google Maps.
In addition to dedicated hardware buttons and Messages integration, Google is improving Assistant’s international capabilities at MWC 2019. This includes additional multilingual pairings and many new features on KaiOS feature phones.
Sony’s latest flagship Android device is the Xperia 1 with its tall 21:9 4K HDR screen and triple lens camera system. The MWC 2019 phone draws inspiration from several Sony products and divisions, including Bravia televisions and the Alpha camera line.
The Xperia 1 is Sony’s flagship device of MWC 2019, but the phone maker is also bringing the marquee aspect down to the mid-range. The Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus feature tall 21:9 displays as well as dual-camera systems.
Following a full day of phone announcements from Barcelona, Google is outlining its Android presence at MWC 2019. This includes Android Foldables and 5G, as well as Rich Communication Services (RCS) adoption and Digital Wellbeing officially expanding beyond Pixel and Android One.
After debuting its mid-range lineup earlier this week, LG is announcing its flagship devices for the year at MWC 2019. The LG G8 ThinQ is the latest phone in the G-line with a pretty standard design, but notable hardware features like a ToF front-facing camera and a front-display speaker.
