Google Store
Following deep Black Friday discounts that led to equally deep consternation among early adopters, the Google Store is continuing its holiday offers on the Pixel 3, Home Hub, and Nest smart home bundles. These deals on Made by Google 2018 products start today, with some ending on Christmas Eve.
Normally in the holiday season, retailers try to lure in shoppers with tempting discounts. This weekend, the Google Store is taking a different tactic by donating a percentage from all orders to an education charity, DonorsChoose.org.
After announcing the deal on Wednesday, the Google Store’s buy one, get one “up to 50% off” offer is now live for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. There is one key aspect to this Google Store Black Friday deal centered on the fact that not all purchase combinations will yield half off your order.
Made by Google is heavily advertising its latest lineup from Hardware Stores to pop-ups, but sometimes nothing brings in more sales than a good deal. The Google Store today has shared its Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers, with good deals beginning the week before.
Between the Pixel 3’s announcement at the 2018 Made by Google Event and its release two weeks later, the Google Store offered a $50 credit to incentivize pre-orders. These credits are now beginning to arrive, but what should you spend it on?
Last week, Best Buy and Amazon began taking pre-orders for the Pixel Slate. The Google Store this evening has updated the order page with estimated shipping that puts the Chrome OS tablet on course for late November/early December availability.
The Pixel Slate is the only Made by Google 2018 product that has yet to be released, with the company only noting availability for later this year. Meanwhile, since the 10/9 event, a Best Buy listing has featured a November 22nd launch date, with the retailer today putting up the Chrome OS tablet for pre-order.
Alongside the retail launch of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL last week, Google opened a pair of ‘Google Hardware Store’ pop-up shops in New York and Chicago. They’re not all too dissimilar from Google pop-ups of the past — you can browse through all the latest additions to the Made by Google lineup and see how they work in person, buy some products, and participate in interactive workshops.
Here’s a quick look inside the New York store.
The Google Store is the best place to head if you want to pick up Google’s products, new or old, and today it’s getting a fresh design with the company’s new portfolio of products.
Ahead of new phones debuting next month, the Google Store is launching a new Repair Center geared towards out of “out-of-warranty” devices. In the past, official repair options were few and far between, but users now have the option of dealing with Google directly.
Last month, Google One officially launched with cheaper storage, family plans, premium app support, and a colorful ring around your profile avatar. Another big incentive to join is free perks like Google Play credit and hotel booking discounts. The latest is a 10% discount off any item in the Google Store.
Ahead of the launch of the Google Pixel 3 next month, Google has today published a teaser/landing page for the device on the Google Store. It’s pretty barebones for now…
Earlier this month, the Google Home Max finally became available outside of North America following an Australian launch. Today, the premium Assistant smart speaker is coming to a handful of European countries and doubling its global availability.
The average person in 2018 is at least aware of two-factor authentication in one form or another. Online banking is the most likely place they’ve encountered it and unfortunately the experience is quite lacking. Ignoring that SMS-based 2FA is not secure, remembering and entering a numeric code is a big inconvenience.
However, it is free, with everyone having a phone — not even needing a smart one — the adoption of two-factor in light of countless online threats is only going to increase. If it’s inevitable, the process should be improved and one way to do that is through security keys.
While Cloud Next is traditionally a software-focussed event, Google last month announced its own line of two-factor authentication (2FA) devices. Titan Security Keys are primarily aimed at high-value IT administrators, but Google is also making them widely available through the Google Store for any security-conscious user to purchase.
In time for back-to-school, the Google Store is hosting another seasonal sale on Made by Google hardware. Given the rumored proximity to new products, the deals are on the more generous side. The most sought after devices go on sale today, with a number of Home and Chromecast deals going live later in the month.
The Google Store is kicking off a summer-themed event today that discounts the Pixel 2 XL, all Google Home smart speakers, Chromecasts, and more. In effect until next week, one of the better deals is a $150 discount when purchasing two Home Max speakers.
In most cases, when you receive a gift that you don’t like or don’t need, you can just take it back to whichever store it was bought from. But until now, if someone bought you something from the Google Store, you couldn’t return the gift yourself to get something else.
The Pixel in 2016 kicked off Google’s latest and most committed push into entering hardware. When the second-generation Made by Google phones launched last October, the original device was kept around with a $100 price cut. Today, those first phones are no longer in stock on the Google Store or Project Fi.
Following the Google Store’s $100 back offer on the Pixel 2 XL that ended just yesterday, the online retailer is now giving customers who finance the phone’s purchase $200 in statement credits and a free 18W USB-C charger.
After passing through the FCC last week, Google Clips is now available for purchase on the Google Store. The AI-powered smart camera will begin shipping at the end of next month for $249.
Like with the original Pixel phones, Google last year released a special edition “Kinda Blue” variant that was limited at launch in the U.S. to Verizon. Today, that color is now available as an Unlocked model on the Google Store and through Project Fi.
The Pixelbook continues in the grand tradition of Chromebooks made by Google featuring ridiculously high-end configurations. Announced in October, the most premium Pixelbook specification is now available from the Google Store with the holiday discount and Home speaker offer. Meanwhile, shipping to receive Store orders by Christmas ends today.
Back in September, the Google Store and Project Fi unveiled a trade-in program to get credits towards a new device. However, one critique that quickly emerged was the flimsy packaging Google was sending out to ship phones back for appraisal. Weeks later, Google has finally remedied the situation.
