Pandora launches its own in-app voice assistant on Android and iOS w/ ‘Hey Pandora’ command

Following the end of the “we added voice commands to it” convention last week, Pandora has today announced its own voice assistant, otherwise known as Pandora Voice Mode, for its Android and iOS applications. Rolling out soon to free and paid users, the new assistant will make it easy for users to control stations, perform common actions within the app, and more.

WhatsApp for Android to receive fingerprint authentication for security in future update

Whilst many of you will have never used WhatsApp, the Facebook-owned messaging platform is one of the biggest on the planet by some margin. To those of us who use the application daily, the upcoming addition of WhatsApp fingerprint authentication could be a welcome one. I can honestly say that I use nothing else and even all of my iPhone-using friends are the same here in the UK.

Assistant for Google Maps adds voice commands, replies w/ auto-punctuation, more on Android, iOS

Back at I/O 2018, Google announced a navigation-optimized Assistant for Google Maps. It began rolling out in December, and is now officially available on both Android and iOS at CES 2019. Voice commands let users safety interact with their phone while driving and adds new features like auto-punctuation for replies.

The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is getting 960FPS slo-mo, 4K 60FPS video recording, and Night mode photo mode later next month

There is so much to love about the Pocophone F1, it’s a superb budget smartphone that is only really let down (at least in the US) by a lack of carrier support. The price point makes it such an amazing package, and it seems it will get even more enticing. That will be thanks to the addition of Night mode for photos, 960FPS slow-mo, and 4K 60FPS video recording, all of which are heading to the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 over the next couple of months.

[Update: Non-beta users] Google Discover w/ Pixel Launcher dark theme more widely rolling out

Google Discover dark theme

To coincide with the company’s 20th anniversary, Google in September announced big updates to Discover — previously known as the Google Feed. Besides the rebrand and other visual tweaks, it is more interest-based and will feature other types of content. This is beginning to more widely roll out today, along with a proper dark theme for Discover on the Pixel Launcher.
